The werewolf western is a wild hybrid all its own, and who knew that one of the better Golden Age comic examples of this tale would not come from a precode horror title, but instead the rip-roarin' final issue from Youthful's rabid run of Gunsmoke, --aka the January 1952 issue of Gunsmoke #16, to be sure! Some really nice 'n early Doug Wildey action art highlighted with splashes of drippin' red stuff-- even some surprising, bare lady flesh, --not to mention one of the all-time great climactic sharp-shootin' ways of takin' a werewolf down! Hold onto yer ponies, my Mahonies, it's time to ride...

The Secret One
Okay, time to get August 2023 goin', and let's kick it off with a weird Jack Katz monstrosity-- one that dines on the fresh flesh of the dead! I seriously hope you've all finished your breakfast. From the Oct '52 issue of Out of the Shadows #6.

The Case of the Demon Spawn!
Time for a lengthy, but none the less fast and frightfully fun, Sherlock Holmes-ish inspired tale of blood sucking terror from the October 1973 issue of House of Secrets #112.

Grimm Ghost Doctor: Black Roses!
Time for some sexy ghost girl thrills 'n chills from the Winter 1944-45 issue of Bomber Comics #4! Not sure if I've ever posted any of these Grimm Ghost Doctor stories before, but they're pretty fun and are always loaded with easy-on-the-eyes, (dead or alive) good girl art... who's the artist?

The Mummy Walks
We haven't had an anti-commie laugh fest in a while around here (or a mummy tale!), so let's kill two bonkers birds with one silly story in this confusingly cornball classic from the May 1954 issue of Crazy #6. Sol Brodsky does his Mad Magazine-esque best with the madcap material, so don't blame me...

The Lovely Little Lady with the Sea-Green Tail!
I've been revisiting one of my favorite old 60's TV series lately, CLICK Voyage to the Bottom of Sea, and this episode in particular featuring a lovely mermaid and her angry mate reminded me of a very similar tale from the April 1979 issue of House of Mystery #267. So kick off those vacation shoes for a pair of flippers, we're treadin' in some dangerous waters as we get July 2023 rollin' out on a weird "...wave of mutilation..."

TerrorVision '88
Not to be confused with the great 1986 sci-fi horror film of the same name, this TerrorVision is instead the very short-lived, seven episode mini series of eerie anthology tales (each one only 10 minutes long) that originally aired on the Lifetime Channel in March of 1988. Monsters, vampires, cursed severed hands, living dead, living mannequins, and more! If you love reading the kooky, low-fi stories I post here at THOIA, then you might enjoy these horrifically cheeseball horror shorts as well, (did I mention how bad the acting is?) And thankfully, someone kindly posted all 7 episodes into one big creepy clip on YouTube that you can watch by CLICKING HERE!
