The Werewolf Burial

It's Wednesday again already, and you know what that means-- werewolves! This is a totally bizarre, and somewhat unique spin on the 'ol hairy scaries, mixing in a ghosts 'n graveyard plot to create something unlike any other lycanthropy tale ever told here. Okay, our hero, Steve, seems to figure things out a little too smoothly at one point, but it's still a wild horror-mash romp through the haunted countryside as only ACG could unearth and unleash 'em. From the December 1951 issue of Adventures into the Unknown #26.

No Pockets on the Dead

It's been a weird while since we had a good 'ol gag-inducing grave robbin' story around here, so let's try this ominous one on for size from the May 1954 issue of Beware #9, art by Leo Morey. Mmm hmm, fits just like an airtight coffin for two, if I do scream so myself!

And don't leave before heading over to my other blog today and wishing Barbara Steele a happy birthday! All scream fiends pay your respects by clicking HERE!

His Own Funeral

Here's a real spooker from the September 1954 issue of Beware #11, complete with an incredibly interesting ending right outta left field that's absolutely overflowing with eerie implication-- so much so, that it takes this somewhat routine mad undertaker tale and propels it to a whole new level. See what you guys think... and what the heck, maybe I'll toss in an added bonus prize to whoever comes up with the best epilogue to this one-- I really wanna know what happens after that final panel when the rest of the fluid is used up!

Stone Dead

A three-time loser stumbles upon a clever con job concept (one that you just know will backfire in face), in this weirdly fun Morey / Moritz tale from the November 1954 issue of Beware #12.

Werewolves of the Rockies / In the Wake of the Werewolf

It's been awhile since we've allowed the werewolves to run rampant around here at THOIA, so load up the silver bullets and awaaaay we go! Our first action packed ACG tale is from the May 1953 issue of Forbidden Worlds #17, and features a very nifty set-up and isolated setting... followed by an eerie Sam Kweskin Atlas classic from the May 1953 issue of Mystic #20.

Vengeance of the Red Ghost

Today is the last day of our “Ghost Stories for Christmas” theme, and it’s a spooky slasher from the March 1953 issue of Web of Evil #3. I’ll have another Web of Evil story for you tomorrow as we kick off yet another theme that will hopefully annihilate December and 2008 with a bang. More on that later… and Happy Boxing Day to my friends in Canada!

House of Horror

As many of you know, I don’t usually post pre-code text stories, but I thought this one was pretty good, (and also from the March 1953 issue of Web of Evil #3.) It's short, to the point and spooky, with just a touch of supernatural grisliness. Check it out, you won't be sorry...
