If the ancient Egyptian Karnak Curse in our previous post didn't do it for you, then how about a curse from the creepy old Carnoc Castle grotto instead? This story originally appeared here at THOIA in a black and white reprint version way back in 2017 (HERE), --but everyone hated the scan quality so I swore on the blood of thy ancestors that someday I would re-feature the proper, original story from the October 1951 debut issue of This Magazine is Haunted #1. George Evans art definitely deserves to be viewed in this manner, any 'ol way. Annnnd because the story is a whoppin' 13 pages long, I thought, hey, why not make this post even longer with some additional TMIH filler quickies, like even more fun Facts About Witches and Witchcraft (from TMIH #20), as well as a two-page Ditko horror adventure, via TMIH #17. This blog is pretty damned haunted too, you know?

Stand-In For Death
As promised, here's the final story in L. Miller's black and white, lo-fi Mystic #30 reprint from 1963, which is actually a complete reprint of This Magazine is Haunted #1 from October 1951. So come on creeps, hop aboard this hellish ferry of the dead for a ride into the unknown! Art by George Evans.

The Curse of Carnoc Castle
Another L. Miller and Son reprint from the 1963 issue of Mystic #30... and as mentioned in our last post, this is pretty much a complete reprint of This Magazine is Haunted #1, sans color, and occasionally sans contrast. Still, this is a nice and creepy, (though somewhat lengthy) centuries spanning tale of rebirth and witchcraft with typically effective art from George Evans. One more story from this reprint issue to go, stay tombed...

The Hitch-Hiker / Room for the Night
Taking a queue from the English here in early December with a traditional ghost story double feature to get you ready for xmas-- and for obvious reasons you know perfectly well why Mr. Karswell approves! Also, you know both of these classic supernatural tales, each has been told countless times in countless variations and cultures, and in some ways both have slipped into the annals of "urban legend" terror-tory as well! From the 1960 issue of The World Around Us: The Illustrated Story of Ghosts #24 from Classics Illustrated, artwork by Georg Evans and Reed Crandall on "The Hitch-Hiker", Gray Morrow on "Room for the Night."
