Well, as some of you have figured out, Haunted Horror #17 is slightly delayed and now coming out NEXT week... no biggy really, and sorry about the confusion. Here's another preview tale from the issue, this one originally appeared in Avon's very cool City of the Living Dead one-shot from 1952, art by Nodel and Alascia. See ya at the comic shop on Wednesday!

Beware of the Undead!
Bewaring of the undead is a superb idea, especially this month as May 22nd we'll finally see the newest release in Yoe Books Chilling Archives of Horror Comics collection-- co-edited by Creepy Craig Yoe and yours truly Scary Steve "Karswell" Banes, it's-- ZOMBIES!! (more info at the end of this post.) And to celebrate, THOIA is featuring an entire moldy month of lurid living dead gems, kicking it off with one from Norman Nodel and Vince Alascia from the December 1952 one-shot issue of Diary of Horror #1.

Monster Howls (PART ONE)
THOIA honors the great John Severin who passed away earlier this month at the age of 90. An incredibly gifted, influencial artist who needs no introduction, (but if you need more info click HERE), and at THOIA, we like to let the art do the talking with some highlights from the awesome 1966 Monster Howls one-shot issue (Humor-Vision / Major Magazines.) These pages speak volumes about his distinct talent, sense of humor, and monster mastery! John Severin (Dec. 26, 1921 – Feb. 12, 2012)

The Phantom Witch Doctor
The title story from Avon's Phantom Witch Doctor #1 one-shot from April 1953 may produce a bit of jungle deja vu in some of you (see our last post), and is it just me, or does it look like a couple of different people worked on this story? The art isn't very consistant from one page to the next... oh well, the black and white illustrated content page by Everett Raymond Kinstler is as fantastically gorgeous as always! (Speaking of, for the weird Kinstler story from this issue, click HERE!)
