The Vampire Puppet

After a quick skim through the pertrifyin' possessed puppet archive of THOIA's past posts (there are a lot more puppet stories than I thought!), I'm fairly confident I've never uploaded anything about one that drinks blood. So here we go, The Vampire Puppet fills not one, but two requests that came in this week, one for something puppetty, and one for the weirdest vampire story I've read in awhile. And both requests came from my friend Chris, who also admitted that he's not a fan of puppets or vampire stories. This tale on the other hand, came from the May - June 1952 issue of Witchcraft #2. And despite the nice art from Ed Goldfarb throughout, plus that iconic precode cover by Gene Fawcette, I'm sure Chris will still hate it...

The Prophecy / The Black Candle

Queue up some Motorhead and prepare yourself for a quick and very vicious tale from the joltin' January 1954 issue of Out of the Shadows #11, featuring a scruffy but cool art collaboration by Jack Katz and Vince Colleta. And since it's kind of short, I went ahead and added a one-page Gene Fawcette quickie from the same great issue. "Read 'em and weep, the dead man's hand again..."

The Witch of Shadow Glen! vs. The Warlock of Manescue Manse!

We have witches and warlocks on Walpurgisnacht, --oh my! Yes, it's a double header of hellacious proportions as we traverse the terrifying hallowed halls of Hades in search for the perfect bday gift for Mr. Karswell, --who turns yet another year older tomorrow! Both tales today are illustrated by Gene Fawcette, with an awesome assist by Vince Alascia on inks, plus two truly gorgeous black and white illustrations by the great, Everett Raymond Kinstler! And as if that's not enough, head on over to AEET HERE for yet another wild tale of creepy cursed witchcraft! Burn the midnight fires this evening, my friends, we'll see you in May for more!

From the December - January 1953 issue of Witchcraft #5.

The Curse of the Bulaga!

No, it's not about the Green Bay Packer of the same name, and it's definitely not the TV show from the Philippines (or whatever it is), it's THOIA's Werewolf Wednesday taking a decidedly weirder ‘n woolier turn this week, courtesy of the August - September 1952 issue of Eerie #8 again! Sometimes I'm at a loss for words on these tales, I mean, I guess it's some sort of Werewalrus, maybe? And possibly if it's cold in your corner of the world right now, the Bulaga might just send a proper chill up your spine. I just hope if one of you ever experiences the unfortunate predicament of having your throat torn out, that you too will sit down and write a nice long story about it, instead of getting to the hospital, of course-- we'll all thank you later in the afterlife! This one’s also a bit similar to the Twisted Hands yarn I posted here back in September... you can run, and you can try to hide, far away in that same, seemingly safe corner of the world, but--

Cremation of Evil

Happy 4th of July everyone! And in light of tonight's fiery festivities which are set to ignite in just a few short hours, THOIA has a hot little number by Gene Fawcette to spark your fuses and make your day and night truly explosive! (Okay, who's got a good faucet joke to go with all of this fire talk?) Anyway, have a fun and very safe holiday, and please do not accidentally or intentionally re-enact the splash below at any point tonight! From the Dec - Jan 1951 - '52 issue of Eerie #4.

The Witch of Shadow Glen!

Stickin' with the witches for another possessed post, and here's a fine example from the December 1952 - January 1953 issue of Witchcraft #5. And how about that incredible Kelly Freas cover painting? FYI I added another work of jaw dropping art for you at the very end of today's post as well-- enjoy!
