Along with the occasional hero vs. horror themed posts that I promised you throughout the month of April, you'll also notice a terrifying trend leaning towards flames and higher temps-- and that's because we'll be slowly turning up the heat the closer we get to Walpurgisnact 2024! Yep, things will definitely get a bit warm around here as we approach May, but maybe not quite as extra crispy as this crematorium classic from the sizzlin' September 1953 issue of The Thing #10.

Ghost Hounds of Trelawney
A ferocious Bob Powell story from the May 1952 issue of Fawcett's Beware! Terror Tales #1 kicks off our November 2023 series of posts, and features 12 pages of truly amazing artwork. So impressive, in fact, Charlton reprinted it a mere 2 years later in the November 1954 issue of The Thing #17, for some reason re-titling it as, "Weird Legend of Trelawney."

The Warlock of London
Took a much needed post-Halloween breather for a bit to recoup after that outrageous October we plowed through. But the party never ends here at THOIA, as we return with a supernatural soiree into the weird underworld of vicious Victorian era violence and witchcraft, --from the January 1953 issue of The Thing #6.

Comeback! / The Snake
I had a few requests for more scary snake stories, so let's finish out the month with a deadly double header of hissing horror. The first is an early Ditko dirge originally featured in the July - August 1954 issue of The Thing #15, (he also illustrated that fantastic cover), and like our previous post, it also takes place at a circus sideshow! Our second tale comes from Dracula Volume 1 #3 (October 1972), which is a New English Library translated reprint from Dracula #3 originating in Spain. Very cool Euro horror with an underground comic vibe-- and I think that we'll look at this stuff a bit more in the coming months ahead-- so stay tombed and come back!

Nothing He Couldn't Do!
With Thanksgiving less than a week away, how about a series of posts creepily themed to the culinary delights of the doomed? Cuz everyone likes to eat right? Right??!! Say, what's your favorite things to eat, anyway? Hmmmm, turkey? Taters? Pumpkin pie? Hey, how about canned meat? Oh god, I've said too much already... better pop down a couple of Zantacs because here comes a deliriously dumbfounding Dick Ayers atrocity that is sure to upset your shivering stomachs. From the September 1954 issue of The Thing #16.

A quick word to everyone about COMMENTS here at THOIA: Please keep your comments related to the story. If there's a point you're trying to make, please keep it simple and always make sure that it's primarily related to comics and horror.
MOST IMPORTANT: please keep your posts free of links that will direct readers away from my page to other websites. If the linked page is related to comics and horror that is totally fine, but the actual main reason I ask this is because with commenting set up for my approval (to avoid spam), Blogger always seems to flag these types of posts as spam anyway, and your comment will automatically go into the spam folder. This blog attracts so much freakin' spam, (you guys have no idea) that I no longer have the time or desire to wade through it all looking for lost posts.
Thank you for your understanding on this matter!

Family Mixup
I've had a few requests this summer for more Steve Ditko, so here you ditgo-- a very funny, but none the less equally morbid tale of a murderous marriage disastrously inflated (and smooshed) to the paralyzin' point of no return-- literally!
From the July - August 1954 issue of The Thing #15.

The Devil's Kiss!
The sizzlin' summer heatwave here in the midwest has chilled out for a few days, so it's up to THOIA to turn up the temp for at least a few more posts, as we finish out the month of July 2019 with some devil hailin'! And first up, one more from the Super Satanic September 1953 issue of The Thing #10.
