How many different ways are there to die? It's an interesting question, and might make for a good experiment. So let's see how it's all progressing with a dead end trip down to the 'ol Iger Shop and the March - April 1954 issue of Haunted Thrills #14. This story is a truly creepy crime / horror classic, with nearly a half dozen Eerie Publications reprints / re-dos to come later on down the road in the 60's and 70's!

Death on Ice, or... Frigid Fear!
Let's finish up January 2023 with one more kooky Iger Shop classic. And if the wintery weather in your area is as shiver inducin' as it is here in mine, then extra bonus points apply today to your icy spinal chills! And along with todays kills and whatev ending, we have the usual, unintentional "ha-ha ho-ho hee-hee" Ajax / Farrell humor, and for some reason I find the "fur vault" dialog on page 4 with butler Higgins to be especially hilarious. So bundle up and dig in, we'll be back in Feb for lots more. From the April 1954 issue of Haunted Thrills #14.

Screams in the Swamp
Things are gonna get swampy around here for the next few posts, because as some of you are already aware, our new SWAMP MONSTERS collection (IDW / Yoe Books) will finally surface this month --just click HERE to order your copy and get more information! And here's the creeping, crawling cover with a horrifically hand lettered title by electrifying Eric Rot:

And say, do you need an example of what's to be found this time around? Click HERE and HERE for a taste!
And in the meantime, I thought I'd share some other swamp horror tales that didn't quite make the cut for the book... this doesn't mean they were unworthy or lacked a certain sort of foggy boggy woggy woo-- they mostly just didn't fit in our newly formatted / limited page count. So put your ear to the peat moss and listen closely... can you hear it? Can you?! It's coming! Yes, this soggy scream dream doggy paddles into your lives from the July 1953 issue of Haunted Thrills #10.

Web of the Widow
Keeping the bone scorchin' thrills a'creepin' with another one from the August 1954 issue of Haunted Thrills #16. Man oh man, isn't that a great splash! And please don't let that gigantic block of opening narrative text turn you off-- this one is worth its webs in gold! Seriously, step into the THOIA parlor this morning-- don't make me SPLAT! you across the face!

Devil's Bride
A few posts back we had Satan's Woman Prize, now today we have the Devil's Bride! And seriously, what could have been just another Iger Shop tale of head splattering suicide and wrist gouged bloodletting (with cursed vampirism overtones), slowly transforms into a terrific tale of demonic possession that would make even William Peter Blatty grin from his coffin-- maybe by page 4 you'll see what I mean.

If I Should Die--
When you've read through enough of these pre code horror stories, you'll come to the predictable realization that if a character at any point in the story reveals what they are most afraid of, then 9 times out of 10 they will most likely die in that exact same manner. If being embalmed and buried alive is one of those fears, the odds change to 10 out of 10. And let's toss in millions of piranha worms just to make things even more hauntingly thrilling. From the November 1954 issue of Haunted Thrills #18.

Getting back to some hilariously haunted Iger Shop thrills, specifically nightmarish ones in a murder mansion! From the oddball October 1953 issue of Haunted Thrills #3.

Screams in the Night
Sorry for the lack of consistant updates around here lately, I've been attempting to catch up on some other personal stuff in preparation for San Diego Comic-Con 2012... that's right, make sure to stop by the IDW / Yoe Books booth next month and say hi, as me and Craig will both be attending to promote ZOMBIES! --I'll have other related news on this to follow soon as well! And in the meantime (as in nasty nazi meanie), here's a horrifically grim, WW2 screamer from the March 1953 issue of Haunted Thrills #7.
