Snake-Eyes of Doom!

Another full month of macabre May-hem continues with an eerie, satanic classic from the January - February 1954 issue of Eerie #14, with art by the terrifically top-notch terror team-up of Nodel and Alascia. Roll those blood-soaked bones!

Strange Case of Henpecked Harry

While ACG is credited in creating the very first horror comic book series with Adventures into the Unknown in 1948, Avon actually beat them by one year with the first full horror comic issue one-shot with Eerie Comics #1 (1947.) Some top-notch artists joined in for the creation of this landmark title, like legendary Joe Kubert, the great George Roussos, as well as Bob Fujitani (who also illustrated that superb cover, see below!) We're actually going to take a look at the frighteningly funny Fred Kida tale today though, where his unique, organic style, and cinematic staging / character posing was really beginning to take sensational shape. And to anyone who doesn't think that you can be titillated by a woman falling on some train tracks, well, I present one seriously gorgeous splash page, as well as a couple of panels on page 6 that will absolutely convince you otherwise! "OH-HHH!"

Master of the Dead!

Did anyone from Metallica ever read this story from the January - February 1954 issue of Eerie #14? Asking for a fiend. Nice work as always from Nodel and Alascia, in fact, I liked this story so much back in 2016 that I included it in my Chilling Archives of Horror Comics hardcover collection, The Return of the Zombies. Get your copy HERE if you haven't already...

The Curse of the Bulaga!

No, it's not about the Green Bay Packer of the same name, and it's definitely not the TV show from the Philippines (or whatever it is), it's THOIA's Werewolf Wednesday taking a decidedly weirder ‘n woolier turn this week, courtesy of the August - September 1952 issue of Eerie #8 again! Sometimes I'm at a loss for words on these tales, I mean, I guess it's some sort of Werewalrus, maybe? And possibly if it's cold in your corner of the world right now, the Bulaga might just send a proper chill up your spine. I just hope if one of you ever experiences the unfortunate predicament of having your throat torn out, that you too will sit down and write a nice long story about it, instead of getting to the hospital, of course-- we'll all thank you later in the afterlife! This one’s also a bit similar to the Twisted Hands yarn I posted here back in September... you can run, and you can try to hide, far away in that same, seemingly safe corner of the world, but--

The Monster of Zollmort Castle

There's nothing too earth shatteringly unique about today's story from the August - Sept '52 issue of Eerie #8, it's just a super fun, man vs. over-sized monster romp in a haunted castle (where no one listens to the warnings either!), plus, terrific art from the consistently cool, Harry Lazarus.

Cremation of Evil

Happy 4th of July everyone! And in light of tonight's fiery festivities which are set to ignite in just a few short hours, THOIA has a hot little number by Gene Fawcette to spark your fuses and make your day and night truly explosive! (Okay, who's got a good faucet joke to go with all of this fire talk?) Anyway, have a fun and very safe holiday, and please do not accidentally or intentionally re-enact the splash below at any point tonight! From the Dec - Jan 1951 - '52 issue of Eerie #4.

Anatomical Monster

Another one from the April 1953 issue of Eerie #11 (see our last story post as well.) It's a tale that's just as fun as it is wildly frustrating, mostly due to some writing problems that are somehow even more flimsy than the wonderfully whack Hollingsworth art. See what you guys think as we finally get rolling with some stories here in July 2019 --lots more on the way too!
