You really have to give the Atlas writers a hand, because occasionally they would come up with a fun idea for a story, and then apparently like it so much they'd do it again a half dozen issues later (with a few changes) in the same comic series. Take for example "The Stooge" from the March 1953 issue of Uncanny Tales #6 vs. Bob Powell's, "The Man from Outer Space" in the Sept '53 issue of Uncanny Tales #12.

Step into My Coffin
Ahhh, the 'ol fake my death / bury me / then dig me up later so we can spend the insurance money routine has never sounded so good, as yessss, it's yet another in a long line of variations on said tacky tactic that once again fails miserably for the pea-brained person who stupidly thunk'd it up. Is that a spoiler? Nahhh, you longtime followers of this blog already know this rotten routine frontwards and back asswards, so do what the story title says, --just try not to run out of air too fast, ya dang ding-a-lings! From the March 1952 issue of Spellbound #1.

Which is Witch? / The Mousetrap
Today we present the last two terror tales from the September 1952 issue of Amazing Detective #14 (also see: "The Weasel Returns" in our last post, as well as "Hands Off" and "Drop Dead" posted together HERE!) ...and just to satisfy the sadistic issue completist inside of you, I promise to have more complete pre-code horror comics primed and bloodied for posting all this summer.

Venom of the Vampires
Only Ace Comics could come up with a weird tale like this, a vampire story set in, of all places, the jungle wilds of Honduras! From the debut, Feb '51 issue of Web of Mystery #1, and featuring some nice solid art in typically consistant Ace fashion... an interesting bit of trivia is that apparently right up to it's actual publication, Web of Mystery was intended to be called "Creepy Stories."
