The Ghost on Television

Crummy weather here in the midwest has waterlogged most of our plans for the 4th of July festivities... guess I'll just stay in and see what's on the old boob-tube instead. From the October 1952 issue of The Beyond #16.

Big Top Nightmare

The circus has come to town, and as always, Lin Streeter delivers another top notch Ace Magazines visual feast of wonderful sets (love those tattered old circus posters inside the castle), --not to mention a terrifyingly thirsty, and very sexy vampire vixen on the prowl! Hang on for your life, it's a high flyin', hair-raisin' tale via the Creepiest Show on Earth, aka the July 1951 issue of The Beyond #5.

Satana's Fatal Beauty

What happens when you go looking for love and beauty in all of the wrong places? And is this even a good Valentine's Day story? I'll leave that up to you. Smallish scans donated by one of the Tommys I believe, sorry I can't remember, --maybe I just need Satana's Fatal Brain Capacity to help remind me! From the August 1952 issue of The Beyond #14, and highlighted by some really fantastic art from Robert S. Pious.

On the Other Side of Death's Door

While many of you are participating in Super Bowl festivities this evening, let it be known that Mr. Karswell is instead going beyond the call of football, and working extra evil hard on the other side of Death's door! So far beyond in fact, that it's actually from the March 1952 issue of The Beyond #9. And what's this? Doth we detect a love story in the mix here as well? Hmmm, well, Valentine's Day is just a few hops, skips, and jittery jumps away too, so yeah, I guess this is a sort of lurid mini theme featuring lovebirds in peril or something...

The Werewolf Strikes!

Today's Werewolf Wednesday post is inspired by the recent reveal from the Devil's Workshop that they're creating a new collector mask based on Warren Kremer's hairy scary cover creature from the November 1950 issue of The Beyond #1 (CLICK HERE for more mask info and to pre-order now-- or scroll to the bottom of this post for a sneak peek too!) Looks pretty good, and very consistent with the quality of the previous mask releases in their precode comic cover series line. And speaking of the comic itself, I thought I had already posted the cover story from this issue years ago, but after realizing I have in fact not posted it, well-- here it is! The wolf man in the story looks nothing at all like the cover werewolf, but it's still a ravenously rollickin' terror tale all the same...

The Vampire of the Opera

Lou Cameron strikes again, (with Rocco Mastroserio on inks, possibly), and together they deliver a fast paced, very sexy, super fun vampire story, where not only is our blood suckin' babe attractive as Hell-- but she can sing too! Today's Ace Magazine classic from the March 1952 issue of The Beyond #9 stars Boris Karloff as Pepe, John Agar as Marcel, Barbara Payton as Colette, Fred Clark as Monsieur Romain, and Eleanor Parker as Madame Pourette.

Wedded to a Witch

The weird, blasphemous sounds of wedding bells ring out one last time, as we finish up our month long excursion into haunted horror love stories. We hope you had a maniacally romantic time, haha... today's wicked tale is from the August 1952 issue of The Beyond #14, with art by Bill Molno.
