Vance wrote in reminding me to post more Frank Robbins, so I dug around the crypt a little and unearthed this awesome bloodsucker classic written by Doug Moench --plus an art assist from Frank Springer. Robbins really amps up the sexy and sinister in this one, --so hang onto your fangs and BATten down the hatches!

The Vampire Soul!

Aka: "The Wisdom of Many, the Wit of One." Written and illustrated by Frank Robbins (plot by Doug Moench), this is an odd, fast paced, and sexy vampire tale from the Dec - Jan '74-'75 issue of House of Mystery #228. Man, I would love to see more of "Martha" in her low cut vinyl top and thigh high go-go boots-- hey, maybe someone out there can resurrect her in her own DC horror mini-series someday! Two hairy scary, monster mashin' Halloween party tales from two different generations of terror for you today-- our first from the December 1973 issue of Creepy #58 (story by Doug Moench and artwork by Richard Corben), followed by an encore presentation of a Golden Age pre code classic from the May 1954 issue of Weird Mysteries #10 (art by Eugene Hughes.) Concluding our Creepy Fest with one from Corban and Moench, from the July 1973 issue of Creepy #54. THOIA friend Trevor M sends over the scans plus an intro: "...for me the greatest masterpiece ever published by Warren, in my subjective opinion, was this surrealist story -- which certainly generated the most mail they ever got. It was also featured in the crusty professor John Adkin's Richardson's seminal cartooning book: Complete Book of Cartooning. Along with the singular Eisner page, it completely focused all us serious students on greatness possible in cartooning."  Enjoy creeps! We'll see ya in April...

Death's Bleak Birth! / Acid Test!

Closing out February with another double header, our first story from the May '74 issue of Tales of the Zombie #5 is a favorite of mine and contains one of the saddest, most chilling endings in any horror story ever. And for you people jonesin' for some damn 50's style pre-code already, I've included the Stan Lee / George Tuska reprint classic "Acid Test!" from the Oct. '73 issue of Tales of the Zombie #2, (originally presented in the July '53 issue of Menace #5 under the title "Nightmare!")
