Come Die With Me!

On the last lousy day of the year, you can almost feel, and even hear, 2018 die screaming. And with the tragic loss of an astounding amount of talent in the entertainment industry these past 12 months (not to mention the tragic loss of brain cells in our own socially and politically divided country), we here at THOIA say adios to the old, and look forward to a much better new year with 2019. Fingers crossed. Inverted. But for tonight, let's take a traumatizing tip from the March 1954 issue of Beware #8, and on this final, flabbergasting day of a most unpleasant year, I ask you all to just simply--

The Haunted House Gig

Let's take a tip from the great, M.R. James, and summon up a few ghost stories for xmas this season, shall we? But oh, wait a minute, we're still in titillating Torchy mode, --so let's goof off a little more with some grins 'n giggles and those gorgeous gams as only the great Bill Ward can draw 'em! Our next post will be a much spookier tale, I promise! From the July 1949 issue of Modern Comics #87.

Queen of the Mummies

Bill Ward's sexy 'n saucy masterpiece, Torchy, was a back-up feature in many issues of the super fun Doll Man series (check the last few posts for more on DM.) Everyone's favorite blonde with the legs for days even had her own series for a while too, and was also featured in many issues of Quality's Modern Comics series-- which brings us to today's post from the October 1946 issue of Modern Comics #54. This is a funny, frisky little story with some incredible art, and I really REALLY wanted to include it in my MUMMIES book (still available HERE --makes a great xmas present!), but unfortunately it just wasn't mummy material enough to work there, whereas I believe it's mummy enough material to absolutely work here at ever art-lovin' THOIA. Enjoy this weeks diversion, haha...

The Thing That Killed!

Three's a charm, as we take a look at one more woppin' Doll Man and Doll Girl monster mash, this time from the December 1952 issue of Doll Man #43, and illustrated by Art Gates. It's a musky (haha) tale of science gone horribly wrong, and one highlighted by a terrifically disgusting looking creature! And oh my stars, Doll Girl really turns up the fists in this one-- I seriously love that the sound effect of a hat being pulled down over someone's eyes is "WHAP!" Hmmm, I wonder who chose the color scheme of the Doll Plane though?

House of Vampires!

I always feel like I cheat you guys when I post a story with a Scooby-Doo ending (check out our last post), so here comes Doll Man again --and this time with darling Doll Girl too!-- to set things right around here at The Horrors of it All with a terrifying tale of REAL bloodthirsty vampires on the loose!
