I had a request for a shocking Dick Ayers electric chair tale a while back, and here it is after a few weeks of brain wrack trying to remember what and where it was published... from the October 1952 issue of Spellbound #8.

His Father's Secret!
THOIA celebrates Father's Day today with an appropriately themed time-travelin' tale o'terror, illustrated by Dick Ayers and Ernie Bache and from the March 1953 issue of Astonishing #23. I have a few other things lined up on our schedule first, but now that I have this eerie issue pulled out, we might take a look at a couple more stories from it later this month too, (no secrets!) --so stay tombed...

Nothing He Couldn't Do!
With Thanksgiving less than a week away, how about a series of posts creepily themed to the culinary delights of the doomed? Cuz everyone likes to eat right? Right??!! Say, what's your favorite things to eat, anyway? Hmmmm, turkey? Taters? Pumpkin pie? Hey, how about canned meat? Oh god, I've said too much already... better pop down a couple of Zantacs because here comes a deliriously dumbfounding Dick Ayers atrocity that is sure to upset your shivering stomachs. From the September 1954 issue of The Thing #16.

A quick word to everyone about COMMENTS here at THOIA: Please keep your comments related to the story. If there's a point you're trying to make, please keep it simple and always make sure that it's primarily related to comics and horror.
MOST IMPORTANT: please keep your posts free of links that will direct readers away from my page to other websites. If the linked page is related to comics and horror that is totally fine, but the actual main reason I ask this is because with commenting set up for my approval (to avoid spam), Blogger always seems to flag these types of posts as spam anyway, and your comment will automatically go into the spam folder. This blog attracts so much freakin' spam, (you guys have no idea) that I no longer have the time or desire to wade through it all looking for lost posts.
Thank you for your understanding on this matter!

Bad Blood!
Despite one horrifically huge, glaring plothole, Dick Ayers and Ernie Bache really knock it out of the bloody 'ol ballpark with this terrific tale of a brutal acid murder / underserving inheritance, from the November 1954 issue of The Thing #17.

Terror of the Vampires Kiss
Like an undead bloodsucker creepin' out of its grave, we're keepin' the love alive around here for a few more V-Day inspired posts, so pucker up and get ready! And okay, I'll admit up front that this story actually holds no real twist ending surprises (no big deal though it is pretty great none the less), but what today's post does possess is a rather refreshing lead male character who, --unlike the typical monster pummlin' macho manly men we find in these types of supernatural terror tales-- is actually just a big 'ol screamin' weenie pants! From the June 1952 issue of Mysterious Adventures #8.

Horror in the Glass
Eye doctor Rick writes in: "I recently received a copy of your terrific Devil Tales collection and love it. For obvious reasons I thoroughly enjoyed the Satan's Spectacles story on page 119 and was curious to know if there are more stories like this about evil glasses." Needless to say, after looking into this somewhat blurry inquiry, Mr. Karswell managed to shed some light on the December '51 - January 1952 issue of Dark Mysteries #4, thus bringing into focus a truly hazy crazy old gem that is indeed, just what the optometrist ordered! (Special guest appearance by Hank Hill, various panels.)

The Doll / Doll of Death
Happy Friday the 13th (again) everyone, and to celebrate this unluckiest of days, we’re featuring an Evil Doll Double Header, a theme chosen by my long time friend in horror, Miss Lulu Voodoo, who finally got her own tiny hands on a THOIA tee shirt recently (still available) check her out during the intermission! And stay tuned for more Tiny Terrors all weekend with possessed puppets, macabre mannequins, and diabolical dummies. Thanks Lulu!
