We hope by now that everyone has figured out what they're dressing up as for Halloween. If not, you better get hustlin', cuz the big night is quickly creepin' upon us! We at THOIA also have a few shivery do's 'n do nots of our own, starting with this rather non-casual, fashionable affair, concurrently taking place in a cemetery coffin near you, via the February 1953 issue of Chilling Tales #14. Does anyone think the final panel here is a flipped swipe of the closing panel from the Atlas horror classic, The Man Who Steals Gravestones (Jan. '53?) Published a mere month apart, so it seems pretty unlikely, --but man, that's some kind of chilly coincidence if not! Okay, see ya'll soon on Hallo-scream!

I really like this one. It's a fun campfire type of story. The ending is pretty obvious just a page or two in, but as I've said before, the journey is what matters, and this does something that is really kind of hard in horror comics ....
It's not that horrifying. And I mean that in a good way; you don't feel danger or fear just watching the slow realization unfold on poor Edward from our sort of death crossed with Dracula stalker who, you can tell, is just trying to help.
It's really ... calming. It's hard to explain, which is why it's more of a campfire or a quiet twilight zone episode. I really like it. And the artist does a good job with what is mostly a talking head story. Some good graveyards and faces, and, again Death Dracula (yes, good band name) is a great character.
