A Ghastly Tale! Green Fingers

Fans of the original Creepshow (1982) film, as well as Stephen King's short story "Weeds" (read it HERE) might enjoy another look into the weird, weedy world of Jordy Verrill (though minus the lovable hick), via the April 1984 issue of Scream #3. It's a spooky little "ghastly tale" one-pager, and apparently another one of those infamous meteors has fallen to Earth-- only to be discovered, this time, by a young boy...

Vampire at the Window

Yeah, I know, another vampire post. But word came down the pike recently that the 2024 remake of Stephen King's Salem's Lot now has a release date (after sitting in limbo for like 2 years since its completion), where it will finally be streaming on MAX this October. I've been looking forward to it for a while, and since the original 1979 TV two-parter is one of my all-time favorite films, I thought I'd show you this funny little Atlas quickie from the October 1952 issue of Astonishing #18, where the vampire has a very similar Nosferatu design that is also very much like the Mr. Barlow character from the 70's version. Plus, we get some "outside the window" action, which, if you've ever seen Salem's Lot, you know EXACTLY what I'm talkin' about. CLICK HERE to learn more about the upcoming film (hope it's good!), and I've also included a related photo, not from the film, but from my attic instead!

Creepshow Video Store Mobile

If you've followed this blog for any period of time, then you know why we talk about the George Romero and Stephen King 80's big scream fright classic, Creepshow (1982) all the time, --it's absolutely one of the greatest horror comic book film anthologies ever made! And this past weekend I drove out to Indianapolis (to meet one of my all time favorite heroes, Bin "Ultraman" Furuya at the All Monsters Attack kaiju convention), and walking past one of the many vendor tables I suddenly spotted something Creepshow related-- an original home video store release Creepshow display hanger mobile! Utilizing the famous poster imagery of the creep in the box office window, and die cut to only feature him with the title, we also get a nice reverse of the image on a spooky, double sided swinger! It's in pretty decent shape too for an early 80's store display piece, a little faded from wherever it once hung, and the base is slightly peeling away at the edges, but for $35 it was still absolutely a steal! Below is my son modeling it for you to show the scale... "It's showtime!"

I... Want... My... Cupcake?!"

Those of you that have been following this blog from the beginning are, by now, fully aware of my undying love and restless obsession with the Stephen King film classic, Creepshow (1981) directed by George Romero. Having watched this incredible ode to precode comic book horror countless times, (and read the spectacular Wrightson graphic novel adaptation just as many too), I felt this was the year to finally have my cake-- and eat it too! Thank you Trick or Treat Studios for officially licensing the "Father's Day" Nathan Grantham (and The Crate's Fluffy) masks for CS fiends like myself, and thank you to the Goodwill for hooking me up with a totally affordable ($17) full funeral suit to properly destroy (with the help of a relative.) A big no thanks to Mattel though who now make Barbie Styling Heads so small that they are no longer appropriate for cake-size horror props, but Hell, I'll come back from the grave any day for a tiny tasty cupcake too, so eh, make due with whatcha got being my current Halloween 2017 motto.

Enjoy the pix, we hope everyone had a creeptacular Halloween as well! THOIA will be right back with more golden moldies from the vault in just a few so stay tombed... and hey, get yourself a second helping of that cake-- it's awfully delicious!
