It's been a while since we wandered out into the 'ol weird west, so how's about we check in on the rootin'est, tootin'est, six gun spookin'est, supernatural show-stopper of 'em all-- The Ghost Rider! And heck, you don't have to twist my arm when it comes to anybody vs. MF'in Frankenstein! From the December 1952 issue of The Ghost Rider #10, and art by the always amazin', Dick Ayers! Maybe more weird west all week too...

Why not really Frankenstein's Monster? It wouldn't have changed the story much and frankly you'd get a better ending.
So the art in this is obviously great: The splash is really dynamic, the way the monster is framed in a lot of the shots in great, and the ending mountain chase is well done. Page 4, panel 7 is awesome.
This brings up a question, though, how many times have you seen the monster choke somebody? The real monster would have the strength to just punch somebody's head off. We need more of that!

Man, this thing looks great. Like, there are no bad frames in this--there aren't even any boring ones. The bottom of page one, the second to last panel of four, every panel with rocks--I have three favorites on every page. But I'll call attention to the second panel on page three. That's no better than many, but way weirder. Frankie's really trucking, and I love the idea of carving out smaller panels with akimbo skeleton elbows.
But for me the cover is the real star here. That's got to be the best Ghost Rider cover of them all. This is one really well designed Frankenstein. And that one submerged eyeball! Shudder.
I agree with Brian, why couldn't there have been a crossover with Dick Briefer as a guest artist drawing in Frankenstein to face Ghost Rider?
The finale would have been Frankenstein falling into a ravine/river/cave only to escape destruction once more while Ghost Rider riding off thinking the monster was gone forever.
Ah well, a comics fan can dream, can't he?

Thanks for finding this little gem. Even though I saw from a mile away that it wouldn't be a real crossover, the anticipation was worth the candle!
