The Sorcerer / Dark Dancer

Curiously, the first story has bits reminiscent of Clark Ashton Smith's "Return of the Sorceror", though it's definitely *not* an adaptation of that story.
There's some fun bits here and there, but boy are these stories wordy, and full of weird, un-used elements (dark dancer: why the love triangle? Why didn't they just go for a drive before the show and crash? Yes, he was drinking, but it really doesn't add anything, he could have been drinking, or it could have just been an accident.)
I like Fass' cover. It's not rendered well but it's just jammed packed with elements, and a bit of Feldstein in there. It'd be an eye catching cover on the newsstands.

It's cool how that turban is floating over John's head in the splash for the Sorcerer. But nothing ever beats people jumping around in a skeleton suit, so for me that's the clear winner here. I just wish they'd bothered to imagine more of that Halloween show in the story, before whatsisface pumped the lead full of lead.

I was immediately reminded of "Return of the Sorcerer" too. I'm afraid it's nearly the only Clark Ashton Smith story I know WELL, so I was able to spot that.
