Help! / The Alien!

Time for the two remaining stories from the October 1952 issue of Adventures into Weird Worlds #11, (see our last post for the others plus a link to another yarn I posted years ago by clicking HERE!) A couple of intense little Atlas terror tales with art from Eerie Ed Winiarski and Mad Marty Elkin-- man, the thing I liked most about Atlas, aside from the great artists, was the variety in story themes as evident in this issue: you get horror, adventure, and even some sci-fi... Atlas had it all. So yes, another FULL ISSUE in the bag, and lots more horror on the way-- including a Halloween story! Yep, you thought Halloween was behind us, didn't ya? But of course around here it's just another day. See ya in a few!

And FYI: the next post will contain the two remaining stories from this issue as I hope to get the entire thing posted this weeeek! After you finish today's post though, check out the crazy cool Larry Woromay story from this issue that I posted way back in May 2008 by clicking HERE!

The Devil to Pay / My Fair Beastie

We finish out a weird week with another full issue presentation here at THOIA (see also: The Catch and The Monster-Go-Round) with the final two terror tales from the June 1973 issue of Boris Karloff Tales of Mystery #47. And hey, if you thought the lake creature in our last post was kooky looking, wait until you get a load of the monstrosities in this double header post! We'll be heading back to the macabre age of pre code horror for the rest of the month next-- so stay tuned!

The Catch

We had a request for more from the June 1973 issue of Boris Karloff's Tales of Mystery #47, (see our last post for another story), and here's the oddball cover tale featuring a monstrosity from the deep with a seriously fishy problem. If the slick art by Jose Delbo doesn't hook you, then nothing will...

The Monster-Go-Round

The June 1973 issue of Gold Key's Boris Karloff Tales of Mystery #47 is a full-on collection of four nicely illustrated, though somewhat harmless, freaky creature stories. Hairy transformations, slimy things from the deep, and this strange little tale of a merry-go-round featuring monsters instead of horses or the usual type wooden animals. It's nothing mind blowing or terrifying, just an interesting "spin" on the pre-code inspired, fitting twist ending I dig so much...
