The Ghoul of Eldritch Manor!

We've had quite a few inquiries about the Bernard Baily cover for HAUNTED HORROR #6 (coming in August), especially after the unnerving unveiling a few weeks ago on Facebook. And like today's corpse desecrating classic tale, it's also from the January 1953 issue of Beware Terror Tales #5-- but with one slight difference-- the HH cover features the ghoulish horror host grin of Mr. Karswell instead of the goofy Fawcett Mummy host! I'll have more from this issue in our next post/s.

The fourth and finale story from the September 1953 issue of Mysteries #3 --it's not the craziest story in the bunch, but its got a few memorable moments of unintentional hilarity and horror for sure... check the THOIA Archive for "The Avenging Corpse", "Shrinking Horror", and "Demons of the Swamp."

Another one of my all time favorite pre code tales (originally featured here at THOIA waaay back in 2008) is this highly atmospheric and very unsettling 5 pager from the August 1953 issue of This Magazine is Haunted #12. They don't come much weirder or creepier than this, folks... any eagle eye experts out there know who the artist is?

Posted this one here at THOIA back in 2007, and here it is again, encore presentation style, where it will hopefully find an audience-- it certainly deserves it, being one of the weirder / spookier Harvey precode horror tales (art by Joe Certa.) From the April 1952 issue of Witches Tales #9.
