Scream in the Night / The Get-Away

Okay, I lied about the attacking false eyelashes... but take away the phony accessories and you still have some spooky eyes today, plus more starkly efficient artwork from the criminally underrated Mike Roy.

PLUS: A Beelzebuddy Bonus, both from the February 1954 issue of The Unseen #13.

TOMORROW: Wednesdays with Werewolves! Grrr-rowr!!

Yeah. After the near-miss automotive accident, I was a little shocked to find myself thinking that I no longer knew exactly where this was headed. Of course, I was wrong about that, but the dialog and the art were both fantastic. Thanks Karswell.

A marvellous story with a lot of great details. The list he kept lol. And great dialog. Very well written.

But visually as a comic story it didn´t work for me. The eye-motif was rather poor and not very effective, cramped in too tiny panels. It´s not that I don´t like the artist, the art is very good in places. Still ...

I don't know what the correct onamatapaeic sound is for a cat screaming ...but 'IIIEEEE' just doesn't really do it for me.

I was thinking this tale was going to have some sort of twist that the cat was a witch's familiar or something. Well, maybe it was... perhaps Joe found out on the other side of the grave.

Thanks... hope everyone is enjoying this look at Standard Comics this week. I'm thinking maybe I'll just finish out the month with this theme, anyone got any thoughts on this, or any better ideas?

TOMORROW: Shit's gonna get even more hairy!

Pretty good story today, I think the short story was even better though. Who knew that Hellboy was originally created in the 50's?

If only this type of karma existed in real life! I love the poetic justice stories. Probably why I'm such an EC fan.

Thanks for having such an awesome site.
