A Debt to the Devil!

Everyone knows what happens when you owe a debt to that schemin' demon, Ol Scratch, so let's see how todays post plays out from the nether regions of golden age Hell. Originally featured in the July 1951 issue of Journey into Fear #2.

Shock Treatment!

I had a request for a shocking Dick Ayers electric chair tale a while back, and here it is after a few weeks of brain wrack trying to remember what and where it was published... from the October 1952 issue of Spellbound #8.

Cry: Danger!

Time to look to the skies for some truly weird sci-fi horror thrills, and today they reign down from above via Marty Elkin and the September 1954 issue of Beware #11 --which also features a really great Myron Fass cover illustration!

Baron of Death!

If the Creeping Death of our last post wasn't enough, here's another gruesomely bloody / sweaty Rudy Palais classic, this time from the Dec '51 issue of Black Cat Mystery #32. I'm not sure if I've ever seen another comic book story that featured the 'ol thumbscrew torture method, but it certainly adds a horrific touch to an already bonkers terror tale! The kookoo cover of this issue is exceptionally wacko too! Who's the artist?

The Creeping Death

Fans of H.P. Lovecraft's style of modern man facing ancient evil in the form of tentacled terror might enjoy this crazy (and very very sweaty) Rudy Palais tale from the March 1953 issue of Chamber of Chills #16. Metallica fans, you can come on down too... "so let it be written, so let it be done."

Johnny Danger Meets the Gorilla!

It's been awhile since we've had a good 'n gory gorilla on the loose tale around here, so let us now salute those rampaging, savage Sunday Matinee monkeys of the silver screen (see Bride of the Gorilla, Monster and the Girl, Gorilla at Large, Murders in the Rue Morgue, etc...) with a fun Johnny Danger murder mystery on a movie set scenario! From the June 1947 issue of Movie Comics #3, highlighted with terrific art by the great, George Tuska! Yes sir, hang on to your slinkiest, sheerest nighties, --this one's a real corker!

Rollin' out with THOIA's March Madness 2023 Edition, and like our last hilariously macabre post, this terrific Atlas tale also comes from the March 1953 issue of Journey into Unknown Worlds #16. I have a lot of gruesome great stuff lined up all this month, so stayed supernaturally tombed in for all the precode horror (and beyond) that you can handle! 'Nuff said!
