Satan’s Love Call

Another Don Heck classic from the same Weird Terror issue as yesterday. Ya know, scanning this story only reminded me how badly I need more Heck stories in my collection. It also reminded me that I need more stories about SATAN on this godless blog o’mine too. And you gotta love the way Heck draws the ladies!

From the May 1954 issue of Weird Terror #11

Heck does draw lovely ladies! This one in fact seems to be the blueprint for every woman Romita ever created.

NOT SCARY AT ALL BUT FUNNY IN A TWISTED WAY..... LOVE THE ART BUT EVERYTHING MIGHT HAVE BEEN MORE EFFECTIVE IF HECK HAD CREATED A LESS COMICAL SATAN, THOUGH HE'S MIGHTY PISSED IN THAT LAST PANEL!!!!

Most 50's horror comics portrayed Satan as the halloween costume version. Hell, they all do (new comics included) still to this day.

Thanks for honoring my Heck-breasts requests! so Satan can read your thoughts?,intriguing....also doesn't Kroft look like Tom Selleck?(don't get mad,he's been said to resemble a crop circle of Cartman on SOUTH PARK!)also, what will happen on this blog on Halloween?,or will it be a surprise?

>also, what will happen on this blog on Halloween?,

I have a growing pile of stories (with a Halloween setting) actually already lined up and fighting each other for the last week of October spotlight. I may even break my own rule and post a few from EC. We'll see... and as usual, if anyone has any scans they'd like to submit I'm still waiting to hear from you already.

I would i just don't have a scanner,or else i'd GLADLY post this unbelievably F-ed up story about a dude with lobster hands,or maybe even the script for TOWER OF SHADOWS,which i have to tweak continually,so yeah i'd post if i had a scanner.

Are you talking about the Gene Colan story "The Hands" in Adventures into Terror #14? I have it if that's a request...

She is a great no apologies cast-iron bitch. No real character complexity but someone you both look at lustfully and hate. And there's a perfect in story excuse. She had Satan as her personal career counselor.
