Hoax / The Sea - Its Givings... and Takings!

I had a creepy chap write-in looking for a 70's comic he remembers as a lad but he couldn't recall any details other than it featured "a sea monster made out of barrels", and another story about a "hot mermaid." Pretty sure he's looking for the August 1975 issue of Monster Hunters #1, --and if this ain't the one I'll eat a hot mermaid! And fyi: the art on the hot mermaid tale is by Pete Morisi, many of you THOIA followers may be familiar with his awesome precode horror and crime work, so check the archives for more-- in fact, check out his Sewer Monsters tale HERE!

Snow Madness

A polar vortex has descended upon the midwest this week, so to assist in the cool down, here's an ice cold chiller originally presented in the August 1954 issue of Dark Mysteries #19, --and apologies for the quality, some black and white reprints tend to be a bit on the dark side thanks to the original lousy reproduction. So stay cool, ghouls! Lots more blood freezers coming up all this month!

The Hunter and the Hunted!

I've posted a ton of stories here over the years at THOIA about jerk ass, big game hunters who find the terror tables turned on them gorily and ironically in the final panel-- but you ain't ever seen a bat shit crazy ending like this one-- unless you encountered this tale reprinted a few times in the Eerie Pubs (and don't let the splash panel fool you either!) Originally presented in the August 1953 issue of Mysterious Adventures #15, art by Doug Wildey.
