He made a true believer out of me. Excelsior!
...also: Thanks to you for posting Atlas stories over the last month and a half, Karswell. I feel like we were all thinking about Stanley when he needed us most. Is that maudlin? Excelsior!
He leaves an immense legacy. Those of a certain age (like me) were born at just the right time to experience it first-hand.
Wow, he is almost unrecognizable in that picture. So serious.I'm just glad he lived long enough to see the impact his comics have.
Note that Menace -- one of the best precode horror comics -- was pretty much exclusively (aside from maybe a story or two) scripted by Stan for the first 7 issues.Aside from the unparalleled work he did in the super hero world and his constant cheer-leading for comics, to us in the precode horror community, the first 7 or so issues of Menace were some of the best stuff out there.
If there is a good afterlife, I think Stan Lee might be relocating Marvel headquarters and gathering up a few of the old artists right now.
Fare thee well, Mr. Stan Lee, your legacy will last as long as comic book readers exist.
That's exactly how I feel.
