The Last Word

Back in March 2009 I posted a killer story called "The Last Word" from the June 1952 issue of Beware #10 about a murderous ventriloquist doll... and today's story, same title and same subject matter, (from the July 1952 issue of Tomb of Terror #2), is just as-- ahem, killer. This is the start of a week or so of posts from Harvey's freakishly fun Tomb of Terror series, and I hope you enjoy the stories I have lined-up. An amazing splash (that reminds me a bit of Roger Corman's "The Undead" poster from '57) kicks it all off.

See what I mean?

When the ventriliquist you're murdering vows revenge, there's always trouble ahead, and there's usually a dummy involved. Great post!

The hapless blonde on p4 seems to be sporting an industrial strength bullet bra! And from the looks of her first appearance and her sprawled death scene, I'd say she needs it!

I guess that Mordann was throwing his voice in the last panel of the second page. How else, really, could the strangulation of the previous panel have been fatal?

(I'm reminded of a scene in The Whispering Shadow where a character being throttled cried out “You've killed me!” and is believed by his assailant.)

Great post! I loved the fact that even after he's been, what, strangled to death, Tercelle is able to hurl his death revenge threat :)
Mordann sure can easily strangle people; must be strong hands from working those dummy controls
Kudos Karswell!

THE SPLASH IS SORT OF LIKE THE MISFITS EVIL LIVE COVER TOO ALTHOUGH I GUESS THEY JUST LIFTED IT FROM THE UNDEAD POSTER TOO AND CHANGED THE SKULL TO THE CRIMSON GHOST. EXCELLENT POST AS ALWAYS AND I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO MORE HARVEY !!

Nice round of comments, and good to see the return of some of you guys too... we're just getting started on the Harvey horrors this month, with lots more including a beastly creature double feature coming right up!

Thanks!

Forgot to mention the Rocco Mastroserio inks over Moe Marcus pencils on this tale!
