The Last Word

Also from the same June 1952 issue of Beware #10 (as yesterday's Doll of Death post), comes another tale of Tiny Terror. Kind of strange that one issue would contain two stories about Evil Dolls, but I'm not complaining of course! This THOIA theme has also been extended until Monday, so I hope everyone is enjoying themselves.

Alternately idiotic and original, combining into one story of sheer brilliance. You've got to love that panel where Hector catches fire, the narrator says he's on fire, and Tina points out that he's on fire. They really didn't overestimate their audience's intelligence, did they? They sure didn't;, because in the next panel, they have flames casting shadows in a dark room. Sure. Why not?

And by the way, "Bubb?"

Nice use of perspective, but muddy coloring and lettering kinda ruined it for me. Ending kinda reminds me of Bloch's "MANNIKINS OF HORROR".

Yeah, the lettering made it awkward, but pretty interesting nonetheless. I like the fact that Hector took his jacket off to murder Tina. THAT'S when you know this shit's real.

From that day to this, Denny Dane has never touched a ventriloquist's dummy...would you?

Oh, sure, blame the doll. Hector couldn't help being possessed by a lecherous two-bit prestidigitator.

But dig that crazy incantation! "Go, shadow, go! Creep, shadow, creep!" It's got a nice beat and you can dance to it.

Sucks for Hugo to end up an idiot, but at least it's the fancy, two adjectives modified type of idiot.

Also wanted to remind everyone that we're coming up on the final week of Rondo Awards voting... if you haven't voted for THOIA yet please do, the drawing is on March 21st, not the 31st like I incorrectly stated last month.

Thanks!
