Vision in Bronze

Holding back on cracking any obvious Iron Man jokes today, here's a nail bitin' Harvey tale from the March 1953 issue of Tomb of Terror #8. And fyi, fans of Eerie Publication reprints, this one was featured in Weird #v11#2 (1966 series) and redrawn as "The Man in the Heavy Metal Suit." It also appeared in Weird Vampire Tales #v4#3, (1979 series.)

The Eyeless Ones / Invasion

Like our last vampire post, todays first story for "Scary Sci-Fi Saturday" is also from the Jan '53 issue of Tomb of Terror #7. But unlike that post with it's strange, unique ending, "The Eyeless Ones" has, umm, one of those kind of endingzzzz... you'll know what I mean when you get to it (actually, you'll know how this ends 6 pages before you reach the ending.) No biggie, the wild 'n wicked Warren Kremer artwork will still totally knock your eyes outta yer skull!

(A super special thanks to The Mayor over at the always awesome Neato Coolville for letting me re-post this hilarious AD)

Horror commrade Mark Borbas requested this fear-turistic Jack Sparling classic while informing me that I had this story still left to post from the May 1954 issue of Chamber of Chills #23-- thanks Mark! (And all of you full-issue fiends check the THOIA Archive by issue number, or search by title for "Heartline", "Dust to Dust", and "The Museum" for more!)

Shadow of Death

A strange and unusually somber sort of ending highlights this nicely done, yet still vicious little vampire tale from the January 1953 issue of Tomb of Terror #7. Plus, an interesting one page text bonus titled "Medical Superstitions" featuring the words: "chopped unborn puppies." You definitely don't want to miss out on that!

Dirt of Death!

Does a story with a title like this even deserve an introduction?! Amazing! From the Sept. '52 issue of Tomb of Terror #4.

Come back for our next post with another "____ of Death" tale!

Quagmire Beast vs. Glacier Beast!

Time for another Creature Double Feature from the crumbling tombs of terror! First up "The Quagmire Beast", from the July '52 issue of Tomb of Terror #2 (this now wraps up the entire issue here at THOIA, check the archive for all 4 tales or see the contents bonus page after our first story) ...and followed by "The Glacier Beast", another greedy little chiller with great art by Lee Elias, this one from the shivery Sept. '52 issue of Tomb of Terror #4.

I love these Harvey contents page intros... it sounds like whoever wrote this stuff was doing so from the confines of a padded cell!

The Last Word

Back in March 2009 I posted a killer story called "The Last Word" from the June 1952 issue of Beware #10 about a murderous ventriloquist doll... and today's story, same title and same subject matter, (from the July 1952 issue of Tomb of Terror #2), is just as-- ahem, killer. This is the start of a week or so of posts from Harvey's freakishly fun Tomb of Terror series, and I hope you enjoy the stories I have lined-up. An amazing splash (that reminds me a bit of Roger Corman's "The Undead" poster from '57) kicks it all off.

See what I mean?
