Curtain Call

Surpisingly, we've only seen a few posts here over the years from DC's great Secrets of Haunted House series (click HERE for more!) And today's entry falls under the "Tales of Destiny" banner, featuring the purple cloaked, Hand of Fate-esque horror host, Destiny himself actually interacting with the story characters as a foreboding warning to the shivery love shenanigans that await. It's a far-out Jess Jodloman illustrated tale that also adds in some mad science and sweet sci-fi elements for the final climactic, galactic cherry on top. Raising the Devil

Time once again to evoke something entertaining and eerie, it's a swingin' 70's spin on Fritz Leiber's Conjure Wife scenario where we find bored suburban couples trying their hand at summoning the Satanic supernatural-- and with the usual, unpredictable results, of course! From the ominous October - November 1977 issue of DC's Secrets of Haunted House #8, featuring Bernard Baily pencils, Win Mortimer on inks, plus a really great Mike Kaluta cover too!

Beware the Sea Hag / The Old Hag!

It sure wouldn't be a Valentine's Massacre at The Horrors of it All without a couple of horrible old hags hangin' around here and lousin' up all the hearts 'n huggin' action. Take for example this horrendous Atlas tale of bad lovin' gone extra hilariously hideous, from the December 1952 issue of Mystery Tales #6. But first up, we'll take a lovely little boat ride out to sea, --to see how luridly love sick our sea sickness can be! From the May 1981 issue of Secrets of Haunted House #36, and yep, it's a double beheader today, one golden, and one silver --and trust me on this one, folks, it doesn't get much juicer than this! And fyi, both tales were written by Carl Wessler! Neat to see him spanning nearly 3 decades with high quality, haggish horrors!
