Swamp Horror

If you keyword search "swamp" in the THOIA Archive you'll find a bunch of stories set in said saturated Soggsville. They're all pretty fun and weird, but possibly none of them are as disturbing as today's offering, the 4th and final story post from the July 1953 issue of Mysteries (Weird and Strange) #2. I'll leave it at that and let ya'll see for yourself, discuss among yourselves in the comments about motherly love and all that inbred hillybilly stuff, if you please. Awww, everyone loves babies! Wait. That's not how I wanted to introduce this story. The winning combination of Bruce Jones and Luis Bermejo teamed up for this cringe inducing classic, (also from the May 1976 issue of Creepy #79 like our last post), and whether or not you think it's cruel or pushing the bounds of taste, well... ooops! I didn't mean to say "taste" either.

Aka: Redneck Hillbillies in the Haunted Bayou! Time for a wild Lou Cameron classic, and some of you may have noticed that I've now posted the entire Feb. '52 issue of Mysterious Adventures #6 (the last 3 posts, plus check the archives for Terror of the Burning Witch.) And if you're wondering about the cover blurb story "Ghostly Terror in the Cave" well, search me... I reckon somebody goofed.

And we kick off the final week of October with a blood suckin’ George Wilhelm classic from the July 1952 issue of Forbidden Worlds #7 (the print job here rather sucks too, but messy spills of red somehow strangely improve a horror story, especially one about vampires!)

Two somewhat underrated 70’s horror films find their way to DVD tomorrow in spiffy new “SPECIAL EDITION” versions from Synapse Films. I actually like THIRST quite a bit, PATRICK I need to see again but I remember it being pretty decent too.

The Glory Hand

Eh? What’s that? Never heard of a Glory Hand? No no no, it’s not the same thing as a glory hole… I say now old boy, have you ever seen The Wickerman movie? No, not the Nicholas Cage version, I mean the ORIGINAL Christopher Lee version of course!! The Hand of Glory, well it’s a… oh good god man, just read the story already, gor!
