In the late 50's, Pierce Publishing attempted to cash in on the MAD Magazine craze, frantically cranking out 5 issues of nicely illustrated comedy madness before calling it quits, --but not before assembling this silly monster mash spoof of Better Homes and Gardens for the April 1959 issue of Frantic! V2 #2.

It's cute, but it's also feels like it was written by a regular copy writer trying to ape mad humor. Certainly a lot of "first thing that comes to mind jokes."
The art, though, is really good. I like the illustrative B&W style that really fits with the magazine it is a parody of. I love the poor, dumb looking King Kong and the monsters puzzled by the nice bungalow.
I looked at the other issues and I appreciate what they were trying to do with the covers but I don't think it was a great idea, and sales seems to verify that!
I consider this the earliest version of The Munsters, before Grandpa and Marilyn showed up. As to which one of the lil' monsters is Eddie is hard to figure out.
Strange as it might seem, there is a segment of real estate buyers who willingly buy haunted houses (provided the price is right.) Takes all kinds to make a world.
Now King Kong wants to get married and Queen Kong wants a house. So Mr and Mrs Stein need to help.
Wild. I see that even the GCD doesn't seem to know much about Frantic. It's too bad, I'd love to know who drew this. The art here is tres neat. I love the portrait of Frank and his Bride, and I appreciate how the different images of the house all agree. Even the schematic has "to haunting" pointing out the door toward the cemetery in the side lot. That's integrity!
I LOLed at "a hearse is not a home."
