Mark of Violence

A funny little gruesome entry by John Belfi, originally presented in the September 1953 issue of The Thing #10... this story also can be found in the unfortunate, final issue of Haunted Horror #35, which (hard to believe), came out a little over a year ago already.

The mayor looks a bit like George Jetson's boss, Cosmo Spacely.
I kind of love the arched eyebrow look the vampire's head is giving in the very last panel.

ln the splash, one character says that they need run and tell the mayor -- which is odd since he's obviously Clark Kent! Hey, Clark, is there no phone booth in this town?

This is a fun one, it keep me guessing until the last page, where it was clear what was going to happen, and it was all the better for it. Well written for such short number of pages.

I can't get enough of the Mayor patting the severed and still bleeding (!!!) head of the vampire.

Haunted Horror might be gone, but The Horrors of It All still chugs on, as good as ever!

The looks of the mayor screamed "feelthy peeg!" He's gonna get what he deserves. I don't understand the villagers saying the vampire is free. Don't they have head and body still? Other than that this was some fine art. Panel three page two being very effective. The vampire as a grinning idiot. Thank you Mr. K., I had fun.

I liked it! It had more blood pools than average. And I, too, like the smug look on the vamp there at the end. That dude has positivity in spades. Sure, he's a head in a box, but when life hands you lemons....
