After the awesomeness of our recent Serpent Queen and Sea of the Dead posts, you would think the June 1952 issue of Unknown Worlds #1 was a complete winner, right? Well, two out of three ain't bad, as THOIA harkens to a past themed event like "Stupidest Killers Weekends" with this, a tale so ludicrously plotted (10 pages for this?!), you might just think it's a winner after all. Yep-- another full issue up in ya!

The Sea of the Dead
Another nightmarish, atmospheric terror tale from the June 1952 issue of Unknown Worlds #1. GCD indexer note about the art here: Bob Forgione is credited on pencils and Jack Abel on inks for "Unknown World" (as listed in Jerry Bails' Who's Who.) Being a one-shot title, and with the other stories credited, this has to be Forgione and Abel. Forgione's pencil work is very similar to some of his signed stories elsewhere, with many close-ups of faces, but Abel is a bit uncertain.

The Serpent Queen
For the next 3 posts we'll be looking at the June 1952 issue of Unknown Worlds #1, because behind the chilling Norman Saunders skeleton cover, lurks 3 weird tales of waterlogged zombies and even more skeletons... and I LOVE skeletons! We'll kick things off with horrific high adventure and the gruesome / awesome boney fate of agony that awaits those in search of-- The Serpent Queen!

The Portrait of Death
Time for the last story from the Feb '55 issue of Amazing Ghost Stories #16, art by George Roussos, plus the remaining bonus one-pager and the 2 page text story (by request.) Check the last handful of Amazing Ghost Stories posts for the other tales in this issue.

The Stalking Doom
I still owe you one last story from Amazing Ghost Stories #16, unfortunately my scanner has crapped out, so I'll have to get it to you when this issue is resolved... in the meantime, (if you missed it the first time) here's a Weird Thrillers #5 original that I donated to Killer Kittens way back in Sept '09, from the December 1954 issue of Amazing Ghost Stories #15.

The Tentacles of Death
Jumping back into the full issue presentation of the February 1955 issue of Amazing Ghost Stories #16, it's now Tuska's turn to deliver the exceptional art skills and tentacled thrills with a tale more on the sci-fi side of things than actual "ghost story" --none the less, it's still a fun, 6-page, B-movie monster romp through the crazy age of precode horror. ENJOY!
