I'm Waiting for You!

It's hunting season, and THOIA just bagged a meaty little Atlas entree for ya, packed with savoy Carl Hubbell art, and simply overflowing with exquisite smokey flavor. Better take a Zantac first, cuz this one will definitely leave ya's burning! From the macabre March 1953 issue of Marvel Tales #112.

Beware the Sea Hag / The Old Hag!

It sure wouldn't be a Valentine's Massacre at The Horrors of it All without a couple of horrible old hags hangin' around here and lousin' up all the hearts 'n huggin' action. Take for example this horrendous Atlas tale of bad lovin' gone extra hilariously hideous, from the December 1952 issue of Mystery Tales #6. But first up, we'll take a lovely little boat ride out to sea, --to see how luridly love sick our sea sickness can be! From the May 1981 issue of Secrets of Haunted House #36, and yep, it's a double beheader today, one golden, and one silver --and trust me on this one, folks, it doesn't get much juicer than this! And fyi, both tales were written by Carl Wessler! Neat to see him spanning nearly 3 decades with high quality, haggish horrors!

Weird Creepy Awful Spooky Ghastly Comics

We've been chuggin' along pretty intensely here so far this month for THOIA's Valentine Massacre 2020, so let's idle it back a notch for just a bit, and take a sniff of something different. Yes, love is in the air-- can you smell it? And love is magical-- black magical! Carl Hubbard uncorks his own magic potion of illustrative talent, and delivers some wonderfully silly scenarios in this weird creepy awful spooky ghastly comic tale from the downright daffy Dec. '53 issue of Whack #2.

The Horrible Hog

Who's hungry for another savory slice of screams from the August 1952 issue of Suspense #21? I can hear your stomach's growlin' 'n a'howlin' and I do believe I have something you just might be cravin'! I also believe we won't get any complaints on the coloring for this one --oh, and let's see if we can comment on it without saying "EC" as well! Some real fine artwork from Carl Hubbell. Order's up!

He Waits in the Dark

In just a few more hours, I too will be waiting in the dark to spring out on the unsuspecting trick 'r treaters in my neighborhood (pictures of my creepy costume in our next post!) In the meantime, let's check in on someone else who is notorious for creepin' around in the shadows-- you know it-- SATAN! It's certainly a perfect night to pay 'ol Scratch a visit, and this devilish little tale from the March 1954 issue of Spellbound #20 should fit pretty well in your little plastic jack o'lantern buckets on this Halloween of evil! Everyone have a great holiday, and we'll see you in a few-- hope you guys 'n gals enjoyed this spellbinding trip down Atlas Lane all this month too! Stay tombed for more...

Where Mummies Prowl

It’s the final day of Mummy Mondays for August 2008, and today’s madcap museum mystery is simply loads of 50's fun. As you can probably already tell before even reading a single line this one is full of golly gee willicker boys vs. dirty crooks in deadly disguise (no real spoiler there.) So if you’re like me and love the classic, spooky themed antics of stuff from Abbott & Costello, Three Stooges, Bowery Boys, and especially The Little Rascals then you’re going to love this one. (NOTE: Special cameo by Stan Lee as “Daddy Brant.”)
From the September 1953 issue of Man Comics #28

FYI: Bob Brant and the Trouble Shooters appeared in the final three issues of Man Comics, for a grand total of 6 Atlas adventures, all created by Carl Hubbell. If you like this one let me know, and maybe I’ll post another Bob Brant tale next month too.

And for another great mummy tale head on over to Pappy's today by clicking HERE! And don't miss the cool Dick Briefer "Yankee Longago" story he posted yesterday too.
