"True" Uncanny Experiences: Satan's Hair Salon

Another satanical story that didn't quite make the final cut of my DEVIL TALES collection (available HERE!) comes from the January-February 1953 issue of Skeleton Hand #3. I'm still kind of bummed about it too as I love the idea of our fearless leader of Hades being a hairdresser, haha, but alas, the story itself is a bit similar to another one featured in the book, and you all know how much I love vicious variety! Anyway, it's a short 'n sweet one, so I'll have a larger post up next... in the meantime, why not go getcher hair done up too!

The Puppets of Death!

Did somebody ask Santa for puppets this xmas? Thought so! And you know that Mr. Klauswell is always more than happy to give the gift that creeps on giving! So Happy Horrordays, gang-- hope everyone gets everything little thing they want and deserve this season. We might be back for a few more before the end of the year, we'll see how the scheduling goes-- so stay tombed! The Secret of Bat Island! / Flight into Fright

I was having a conversation with someone a few months back about a story concerning a guy who drinks bat blood to halt the aging process. It was assumed this was a precode story, but alas, digging through my 70's DC horror long boxes, it seems it actually appeared in the Jan-Feb 1973 issue of Weird Mystery Tales #4 (unless of course someone knows of a precode story I'm somehow missing!), art by Bill Draut. And since this story is kind of short, I thought we'd round trip things out with another oddball yarn featuring the world's worst (or greatest?) travel agent ever, from the Oct-Nov 1974 issue of Weird Mystery Tales #14, this issue highlighted by one of my all time favorite Luiz Dominguez covers no less! So off we go-- one by air, and one by sea, pack your fangs and hop aboard for a double feature excursion into batty bluh-bluh-bluh-blood sucker terror-tory!

RETURN OF THE ZOMBIES! / The Dead Remember!

Back in 2012, Craig and I unleashed a horde of flesh eaters upon fans of precode horror collections with ZOMBIES (IDW / Yoe Books, still available HERE!), and now in 2016, we've dug up another plague of undead for you to devour --or be devoured by! RETURN OF THE ZOMBIES! is 140+ pages of the rotten resurrected, shambling at you from the 1950's golden age crypts of gruesome graveyard filth! Featuring ferociously illustrated classics by Matt Baker, George Evans, Lin Streeter, Lee Elias, Warren Kremer, and more-- as well as a Frazetta / Check cover and an introduction by Euro scream queen, Lone Fleming! If that's not enough, we even have a FULL STORY sample by the great Jon Blummer for you today here at THOIA! We hope you'll dig this collection as much as the first one, and if you scream loud enough we might even do another!

The Hitch-Hiker / Room for the Night

Taking a queue from the English here in early December with a traditional ghost story double feature to get you ready for xmas-- and for obvious reasons you know perfectly well why Mr. Karswell approves! Also, you know both of these classic supernatural tales, each has been told countless times in countless variations and cultures, and in some ways both have slipped into the annals of "urban legend" terror-tory as well! From the 1960 issue of The World Around Us: The Illustrated Story of Ghosts #24 from Classics Illustrated, artwork by Georg Evans and Reed Crandall on "The Hitch-Hiker", Gray Morrow on "Room for the Night."
