The Monkey Glands

We’re still monkeyin’ around here for another day with our ancestors, so grab a couple bananas, hop into your tire swing, and check out this ridiculous mad scientist classic.

From the August 1953 issue of Strange Tales #21

For the person who requested more Reinman...

Great art for a truly wacky story! Franz is truly the poster child for the FDA, not to mention PETA. Of course part of me years for the days when you could just buy a monkey and inject its precious simian fluids into your own bloodstream without the interference of government agencies. I wonder where the current candidates for president stand on recreational xenotransplantation? :)

I can see why you had "The Ape Man" trailer preceding this.

You know, it isn't terribly dastardly to plot to get your brother's fortune by, gasp, outliving him. I know this guy was morally flawed, what with the gambling and all, but still--he's hardly an arch-villain. I dearly love the idea that he's a little miffed on the last page, thinking he's prolonged his life for nothing. Premature youth--ah, the whimsy.

Utterly silly ending, but the good pacing and characterization more than made up for it,and Reinman's art was so good it looks almost like Jose Ortiz.
