The Beast Within

Some bullies will never understand that a man can only be pushed so far until he finally snaps and then exacts bloody revenge as--- a fuzzy wuzzy teddy bear! Totally true. And if you don’t believe it then please read on, oh disbelievers…

THE PREMISE HERE IS GOOD AND PROMISING WITH THE PROFESSOR LECTURING AND THE BULLYING......IF ONLY THE BEAR LOOKED SCARIER IT MIGHT HAVE REALLY WORKED. NICE ART THOUGH AND STILL SORT OF FUN.

Smokey says, "YAAAHRRRR! YAAAHRRRR!"

The whole bear suit thing was kind of farfetched. Couldn't he just have been bitten by a radioactive bear? Excelsior!

I've seen stories about werewolves, werepanthers, weretigers, werelions, werefoxes, weregorillas and even a werewarthog but this is the first werebear. In the one close up panel the bear does look an awful lot like Smokey.
A while ago you asked how people read the stories. I didn't see any responses. I find it hard to read off the computer screen and print them up, staple them together and read them like a comic. The only thing missing is the smell of the pulp paper.

Werebears vs Carebears would be something I'd pay to see. And yeah, he does look awfully cuddily in the last panel on page 6. I believe the point is that he's opening up to the woman he loves when he momentarily turns into Snuggles the Fabric Softener Bear.

That'll be over at my other blog, The Aroma of it All (coming soon!)

'Nuff said.

Ok, Don is heinously fug, bless his poor heart. But pretty much everyone else in town is, too. The "normal" boys weren't all that, either and that cop in closeup at the bottom of the last page might have been worse off than Don.

I was going to say the same thing! Wow, what a mug on that copper! And of course at the top of pg 3, it looks like Tex has lost an eye in a sweet-shop brawl! Gruesome.

I was expecting a twist at the end, where it had been a real bear and then Don shows up in the bearskin and gets blamed. But this is fine too--an update of the Grimm's fairy tale "Bearskin" perhaps?

Nice Roussos story, possibly with a pencilling assist by Mort Meskin. But I think not, maybe just a few swiped poses.

Well, I never said they were all gonna be winners.
