The Faces of Death

Here’s one more spooky tale from Black Magic, this time by Bill Draut, and then tomorrow it’s back to the horror mix with neck breaking hangings, murdering mummies, killer sharks, and maybe a tale from the ‘ol Necronomicon itself! It’s gonna be a wild week of whacked out weirdness so stick around!

From the April 1953 issue of Black Magic #23

Hey, another great one here! Reminded me of Final Destination, or more appropriately of the wonderful story Boris Karloff tells in Targets about the man trying to run away from Death. It's an old story, but well-told here...

Really loved the art on the "death visions"--Death in the dream is freakin' scary, and the porter's reflection, the driver in shadow as our hero runs away...all great.

The only mock-worthy thing here is the spelling of "hear" as "here," but really that's par for the course. Great tale!

Also--I've totally been letting ugly pimples ruin my looks. I never realized that until just now. :)

Another wonderful story with very striking artwork.

Thank you for the great daily scans, it is very much appreciated for those of us who can't afford to buy these comics like myself.

I thought that too when I first read this one, also drawing a blank...

Even back then comic book publishers had their market pegged as gooney pimple pusses.

That complimentary towing from Safe Auto looks better after this.

Especially if "Life" is the driver.
