I've decided to declare today as National Mummy Day! And what better way to celebrate than by violently practicing your very own ancient embalming techniques on someone you don’t love. Need a quick refresher? Maybe this gruesome Joe Maneely tale can help…

Ramahi's not exactly the most observant guy in the world, is he?
Remind me never to get embalmed .... yuck!
Looks like Edmund has a bone to pick with those embalmers.
Holy crap. I was reading along, thinking "Yeah, this is just your standard mummies rise up and destroy the invaders of their tomb tale, and then BANG! Those last two panels!
Who cares if that's not at all how it was done (the brain-through-the-nose-by-hook extraction is the accepted method for dealing with unbelievers now)? It's so wild and weird and wonderful, if that's not how the Egyptian embalmers did it, well, it's how they SHOULD have done it. :)
I'd love to see the small business loan application this guy got to finance his trip to Egypt! (Ever wonder where these get-rich-quick schemers get the money to do all their blasphemous excavations?)
ps--Osiris is a "he."
MAN ANOTHER GREAT POST, THOSE LAST 2 PANELS ARE DISTURBING AS HELL! AFTER YESTERDAYS POST THIS LOOKS LIKE AN AWESOME ISSUE OF MYSTIC.
This is certainly one of the most bizarre endings to a mummy story I've read. The art certainly fits the story.
I was wondering if anyone had read the new book The Ten Cent Plague about the crackdown on the comics in the fifties. I've just read an interview with the author and it sounds like it might be interesting. He has tracked down and interviewed a number of artists who's careers were ruined by the crackdown as well as comic collectors. Unfortunately the interview doesn't say who. The only one mentioned is Al Williamson who is quoted as saying "It was a bad time to be weird"
Wow! Another "5 comments before 10am" morning, I guess I should post more shark and mummy stories.
FYI: Everyone liked The Thing story that Brian Hirsch submitted last week so much that he sent me two more, so what I'm gonna do is every remaining Saturday in April will feature a story from The Thing--- starting tomorrow! See ya's then!
>I was wondering if anyone had read the new book The Ten Cent Plague
Though I have not read it yet myself I have heard that it's not very good. One of my more faithful commentors (whose opinion I trust) claims it typically ignores the vast array of precode publishers and titles in favor of rehashing the same old EC information that everyone and their grandmother already knows at this point.
ouch! bet getting your skeleton removed hurts a little.........
I love the second to the last panel, with the obvious outline of the skull beneath the skin as it slides out of the face! Great artwork here, and the story was fun- I could almost here a ghastly narration in my head as I was reading this. Great lunchtime entertainment for sure. Thanks Karswell!!

Everybody is racing to have his own comments heard first, and thus frame the context of the discussion! In fact, I'm going to use this comment to stealth-comment TOMORROW's post! To wit:
"HAHAHAHA! Wow, look at that amazing art! And those crazy plot developments! What a hoot! What were they thinking? Boy, I can certainly come up with witty rejoinders for all that nutty dialog, I can tell you!"
;)
>the obvious outline of the skull beneath the skin as it slides out of the face!
What's even creepier to think is that the guy's brain is probably still inside the skull--- yet the eyeballs are still in their fleshy sockets somehow!
>stealth-comment TOMORROW's post!
Ha ha, good one Vicar. But just for that I'm going to see if I can dig up a story for tomorrow that doesn't fit your stealth comment at all, one with obviously crappy art and boring dialog, as well as hootlessly typical plot non-development. It'll be like those people on game shows who jump the buzzer before the question is finished...
>>one with obviously crappy art and boring dialog, as well as hootlessly typical plot non-development
Can't wait! ;)
>Can't wait! ;)
Don't hold your breath.
"So let the mummies sue me!"....i said somenthing very similar regarding a mean comment i once made about Angie Dickinson...
Great title on this one!
Wow. I was totally not expecting the last two panels.
