Horror in the Moonlight

To celebrate Vampira’s birthday today I proudly present my all-time favorite Bill Everett masterpiece from the August 1952 issue of Marvel Tales #108. Aside from the opening and closing narrative, this tale is essentially wordless, though full of dynamic storytelling imagery. Someone else has their scans on display over at the Atlas site, but they are much too small for my tastes. This story needs to be viewed in full KARSWELL-SCOPE!

FYI: Tomorrow starts the Christmas themed horror scan posts, and be warned, there’s not a lot from the golden age. I challenged people to help me find Non-EC 50's xmas horror but we hardly came up with anything worthy. The only actual pre-code story I found will be presented on Christmas Day, and just our luck it’s another Bill Everett tale! But no fear dears, Keith Smith has provided us with a great collection of 70’s Warren xmas chillers that are perfectly pre-code inspired for this festive occasion, plus a few other surprises… we do hope you’ll stick around.

Bunny-Werewolf-cat-snake! love this, definitely one of Everett's masterpieces(he had quite a few)and as much Atlas get's ribbed for 2nd person narration and lack of dialogue, can you really say this isn't effective?great example of artistic brilliance allowed to run wild, and i love Everett's cute/ugly monsters anyway.
