The Pit of Horror!

Thank God it’s Satan: Revisited! Yep, Demon Days are here again and today I deliver unto you a Diabolic Devil Double Header of Bill Everett classics! This is the final day of stories from Adventures into Weird Worlds #10 (hope you enjoyed it) and it's also the last day for the Lyric Challenge. Slide your submissions into the comment box before 8pm Central time tonight so the judges have ample time of their own to go over everything thoroughly. If you missed a day or two it’s not too late to go back and enter the earlier posts this week too.

Come on! Win some neat prizes, or be cast forever into...

Too easy today... from the Misfits it's Earth A.D.

"...on Earth as it is in hell,
We'll see you get to like it in A.D., A.D.,
People gonna talk about A.D., A.D.,
Bloody hell and sacrifice.
You, your heads on a big display,
Oh, your really gonna like it here A.D., A.D.,
The people gonna talk about A.D., A.D.,
Living hell is not so bad..."

Wasn't that a stone gorgeous little lark. I love the Hitler hair on Satan. You know, with the toony little imps and wrinkled curmudgeon, this hits a similar jaunty moral note as most Chick Tracts. If only it had quoted some red-letter scripture footnoted awkwardly to some Satanic dialog. As it is, I still think it would look good at three panels to a page.

Last day for the Lyrics. I've done three already, but today's was so easy! I've resisted the urge to use a psalm. Here's Iggy:

pain and suffering
turn things to blood
a power floats
upside down in a river of mud
a skull of a goat
makes love to you
you're my doll
a pet who meows
and blood and hate
the blood that's everywhere

suffering, i am terminating this world
i'm your father now
no more shelter, no more fun
human race, you're going to writhe now
heh heh heh heh
i am angry

Pain and Suffering by Iggy Pop.

Just like my boss, only with hair and horns. No matter what I do, it always ends up with him making my life a living hell!

Loved this comic from the first to the last panel even if predictable , fun as hell ( no pun intended !)!
as for the lyric challenge a song from an obscure power metal band of the eighties
RUTHLESS
ANOTHER DAY IN HELL
from the album "Discipline of Steel"
"JUST ANOTHER DAY,ANOTHER DAY IN HELL" ( repeat )
Thanks for sharing

Isn't Satan... NAKED? What is Hell coming to? Rampant nudity, on top of everything else. Hell has really gone to itself in a handbasket.

And if our expert didn't see that end coming, he needed new glasses.

Great story! Evil always rewards it's workers with evil. Remember that.

Soooo... in the Pit of Horror, you're subjected to Efficiency Experts, and in the Bloody Pit of Horror, you're tortured by the Crimson Executioner. I'm thinking a boxing match is in order (smart money's on Mickey Hargitay--just sayin').

Ahhh, such tasty artwork on this one! And how did I know that old scratch was gonna back peddle and turn the deal around?

This one has WAY too many lyrical possibilities, so I gotta go with one of my favorite bands CHEAP TRICK, and their hair raising screamer "Gonna Raise Hell" from the legendary "Dream Police" record..

"Gonna raise hell, gonna raise hell.
Gonna raise hell, gonna raise hell.
Ambition? Ha!
If all I've heard is true,
There's nothin' much I can do
To change the world, it's irreversible.
But in what it lacks,
It's got a taste that smacks of somethin' irresistable.

Gonna raise hell, gonna raise hell, gonna raise hell.
Gonna raise hell, gonna raise hell, gonna raise hell.

Submission? Yes!
Now I won't name names, and a secret's a secret,
But a hint's a hint or a clue.
You really wanna know, you really wanna go,
There's only two things you got to do.

Gonna raise hell, gonna raise hell, gonna raise hell.
Gonna raise hell, gonna raise hell, gonna raise hell."

This one was a real zinger. I especially like the first panel (splash).

I think this one calls for a little Slayer:

An unforeseen future
Nestled somewhere in time.
Unsuspecting victims
No warnings, no signs.
Judgment day
The second coming arrives.
Before you see the light
You must die.

From the Crazy World Of Arthur Brown:

I am the god of hell fire and I bring you:
Fire, I'll take you to burn.
Fire, I'll take you to learn.
I'll see you burn!
You fought hard and you saved and learned,
but all of it's going to burn.
And your mind, your tiny mind,
you know you've really been so blind.
Now 's your time burn your mind.
You're falling far too far behind.
Oh no, oh no, oh no, you gonna burn!

An awesome final day of the Lyric Challenge! Though I loves me some metal, I'm glad to see we broke away from the obvious in a few instances and found some truly interesting (even shocking!) combos. Iggy Pop dancing with Charlie Daniels, Ruthless shredds as Arthur Brown goes crazier, while Cheap Trick battles Slayer for who's the most sinful and Hell worthy.

I'm not ignoring the peeps who didn't participate in the contest though, Hell no. Thanks to Fred for his ever witty skullfull of comments, and great to see The Hairy Green Eyeball stop by... and leave it to Kate to open up the other bloodiest pit of horror ever.

For more updates on what's next, as well as the current state of the contest check the comment section in our other post today, and thanks again to everyone who played, sang along, hung out, and basically just had fun. That's what it's all about. Have a great weekend everyone!
