The Devil's Disciple

Sin #2 in our December Dedications to The Devil, this one from the August-Sept 1949 issue of Adventures into the Unknown #6. Does anyone know anything about illustrator R. S. Pious? There's a teeny bit of info credited to him on GCD, and nothing else anywhere.

Oh how sweet. Love conquers all, even big daddy lucifer.

And speaking of, the apartment I was living in last year was three blocks away from where Anton LaVey's black Victorian mansion once stood. Today it is sadly a boring yuppie condo (the Church of Satan was tore down in 2001).

Here's a clip of the greatest LaVey performance

Oh good grief, I read that as "The Devil's Discipline"! Strange Freudian thought slip there. Might have something to do with Frank, but you don't know him and we ain't going there.

Sorta looks like the Tasmanian Devil also put in an appearance.
:-p

No vintage ad this time? :-(

Love those big clunky cars back in the day...

If you look up Pious on Lambiek it suggests R. S. Pions. But searching this name doesn't produce any real information either, at least none I could find. I would like to know more too!

The first time I searched this name on Lambiek it suggested a totally different name than the one you got! Oh well, thanks again! New post coming up here shortly...

Howdy,

This probably gets us no closer to his identity, but, I found a listing for art by R. S. Pious at this site:
