Barreling along with our Ghost Stories for Xmas theme this week, today we present another cinematically spooky King Ward entry from ACG... and graced with a splash that is so moody and dripping with eerie atmosphere, you can almost hear the waves crashing on the beach.

Ain't Libby SMILIN' when she wakes after dreaming of pearls?
Lordy, lordy...
I believe a can o' worms got opened the other day, and certain barriers of reluctance came crashing down in the THOIA community. Between gargling... sorry, Googling b*kk*ke and a face full of pearls... Well, inuendo never got such a workout. Viewer discretion is now assuredly advised.
I am also reminded of the use of asterisks in these old ads. Pearls, diamonds, aphrodisiacs... often with an asterisk leading to a "footnote" ABOVE the reference, and often employing synonyms for "fake" that at least SOME readers didn't understand (Google "postiche").
GENUINE DIAMONDS $1.99*

Five'll get'cha ten National Novelties is no longer at 608 South Dearborn in Chicago. But what is? Gov. Blagojevich's gallon jug of hemorrhoid cream,* mayhap?

i can't believe it's come to this...
>i can't believe it's come to this...< haha. Karswell: the new Maddox. Love it. Seriously now folks, this was a pretty good story, and very educational; street bums sell priceless pearls for cheap prices. I'll re,member that next Christmas.
Pearls, pearls, pearls, what's the great big deal about pearls??? They're oyster-spit, folks! Oyster spit!!
... Sorry, altar ego broke through there. Good story, though there's something giggle-inducing about the arrangement in the splash.
GREAT STORY! I ACTUALLY JUST SAT HERE AND READ IT TWICE. KING WARD IS ANOTHER ONE OF THE UNDERATED AND FORGOTTEN PRE CODE GUYS THAT ONLY CAME TO MY ATTENTION ONCE I STARTED READING YOUR BLOG. EXCELLENT! I HAVE TO ASK TIM WHAT IS SO GIGGLE INDUCING ABOUT THE SPLASH THOUGH? I THINK IT'S PRETTY AMAZING.
Looks like the good pearl necklace innuendos have already been covered.
As much as I love ghost stories, I have to say that they usually fail for me in comic form when the ghost gets drawn too much, or participates too much in the action. I think the best ghost stories are the ones where you don't really see the ghost, but experience the..er..horror of it all.
Man, this is a great blog!
Is this a good time to point out that my real given name means "pearl"?*

Not only was it a great story today, but bw2k1 really made me giggle with the above post.
Incidentally, you're supposed to swim with pearls once a year in salt water, to keep their glow. TRUFAX!
Another really good post. I don't know how you and Pappy do it but I sure do thank you guys for all your hard work.
Happy Holidays!
Haha, really funny comments today, it's good to see that some of you are are as goofball as I am.
Got another ACG tale for you tomorrow... as we slowly approach the Hour of the D00d.
I read this issue awhile ago, but I never tire of the lower righthand panel, page four.
Boy that Aunt Sophie was a greedy old bat. If my great aunts came back from the great beyond, all they'd want is a little bourbon on the rocks and a few hours playing video poker to make them happy. Actually, that would be kind of fun!
