Hmm, strange story. Or more a strange concept of ghosts. Hanging 12 hours on the cemetery and can´t even do the cool stuff? Think I pass :-)

Oh, and Merry Christmas everybody!

LET ME BE THE FIRST TO ADMIT THAT EVERYTHING YOU POSTED TODAY WAS BETTER THAN ANYTHING I GOT FOR CHRISTMAS THIS MORNING. AWESOME STORY, BOB POWELL IS SLOWLY BECOMING ONE OF MY NEW FAVORITES, AND LIKE ANDY SAID ITS A TOTALLY STRANGE STORY........... WOULD HAVE MADE A GREAT SPOOKY TWILIGHT ZONE EPISODE.

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO THOIA AND ALL ITS READERS!! AND THANKS AGAIN KARSWELL FOR EVERYTHING YOU DO!

Merry Christmas, everyone!

Nice, atmospheric tale and the art was simply flawless. I just found it a bit strange that a ghost would be afraid of a fat guy with a pitchfork.

"DON'T RENT MY ECTOPLASM."

What a perfectly original concept of ghosts, and another fine tale resurrected by Karswell.

THANK YOU for making EVERY DAY A HOLIDAY.

HAPPY WHAT-PLEASES-YOU-MAS, BAD LITTLE BOYS AND GIRLS, FROM BLACKWALNUT AND THE BODIES IN THE BASEMENT.

Thanks everyone, I appreciate all the comments as well as the emails I've been receiving all morning, you guys are the greatest! I do hope yer all having a great xmas too.

One final thing I want to leave you all with, in case you missed it, is this great post over at John K's blog from Tuesday called Appeal in Ugliness, it's a very informative look at Basil Wolverton's style, with breakdowns on why his stuff is so damn hideously awesome yet still appealing. It's a fascinating read on structure / construction design sense and pure originality and imagination. For more Basil Wolverton check the THOIA archives by using the search engine at the top of this blog.

See ya'll in the mourn for the final Ghost Story for Xmas!

A little long but very enjoyable, and like many others have pointed out very high quality art. Thank you and happy holidays!

Sorry I missed this yesterday. WOW!! What a great story, great take on the idea of the miserable dead. So much more a logical depiction of ghosts than what we're used to. They're to be pitied as prisoners; another reason to fear death. A few bits of clunky dialog, but still a marvelous concept with some nice ideas.

Powell is, of course, amazing. Some of these panels just friggin' sing, you know? And man, could he draw horses! But some of the later pages look as if Powell got an assist, and not from his frequent collaborator Nostrand, either. It weakens the art a bit in a couple of places, but where it's pure Powell, just perfect! Again, I know I'm a day late, but this is fabulous. Thanks so much, Karswell. You're the best.
