Two crazy stories ending with slimy goo, hilarious. Great art in both as well. I also find it strange that in both stories the actions of bad people helped lead(indirectly in the Atlas story)to the Earth being saved. Yet another motivational poster in the making; EVIL: IT MAY LEAD TO A FEW STRANGLED WOMEN AND STOLEN ATOMIC WEAPONS, BUT IT'LL ALL BE WORTH IT WHEN IT STOPS ALIEN INVASIONS. I think i've found an excuse to quit my job....
Ah, the aliens from planet 55. Hilarious. "what´s your world called?" "why, 55." And if you land on a primitive planet to take over the world, the first thing you do is to destroy your advanced spaceship. Good plan :-)
But the smart scientist who wanted to rule the spheres and communicate with the denziens of Mercury wasn´t half bad either. But it was a well written story. Especially liked the bar scene.
Not usually one to sniff out misogyny in pre-code stories, it's kind of hard to dismiss it in "What Was It?" I mean, when a writer comes up with a way to kill a nagging wife twice?
As to "What in the World" I have just two words for you; "thought killing!"
Boy, I'm sure some married couples will find things to identify with in "What Was It"... and "What In The World' was great too, with plotting gangsters and cyclopean, beaked aliens (who suffer from rotten luck)!
Wow...reading the first 2 pages of What In The World was like listening in on a conversation at the White House.

We'll have to take a vote HP, this phrase on the back of the new THOIA shirts in 2009, or the one you said from the other day. I'm leaning towards this one more though since it rolls so smoothly off the tongue.

At least they weren't from Planet X (like practically every other lame ass sci-fi something.)

One more day of Sci-Fi Horrors to go tomorrow. It's a cool, rather lengthy story too, hope you all enjoy it.
loved the giant green hand complete with eyeball in "What In The World", too bad it was just a tease. and the sand castle gangster on the last page was a nice touch. i also enjoyed the double wife death in "What Was It?" but i'm no misogynist. I Married A Woman!
WELL THAT WAS TWO WILD TALES TODAY. I REALLY LIKE THEM BOTH BUT IF IT WAS A SHOWDOWN THEN I GUESS THE ACE TALE WAS THE BETTER OF THE TWO. AND SO MUCH FOR MY MOVIE TIE IN THEORY THIS WEEK UNLESS WE COUNT I MARRIED A MARTIAN FROM OUTER SPACE FOR THE ACE STORY.
