Elizabeth Shepherd

Happy Birthday Elizabeth Shepherd! Born this day in London England in 1936. A fantastic, high caliber actress of the big screen, small screen, and stage. Probably most famous to THOIA readers as Lady Rowena Trevanion (aka The Lady Ligeia) in Roger Corman's awesome horror classic The Tomb of Ligeia ('64), and as poor Joan Hart in Damien: Omen II ('78.)

I really like Tomb of Ligeia. It seems that it isn't too many people's favorite Corman/Poe film, but I like it. It might be Vincent Price's glasses.

I LOVE Tomb of Ligeia, it's definitely in my top 3 of the Corman / Poe stuff. Price is of course always great, but to me the essential hook of the film is Elizabeth's performance. She really makes this one shine.

Also the original Emma Peel! Shepherd actually filmed one and a half episodes before she was replaced by Diana Rigg in the role for which she became famous. Reportedly, Shepherd wanted significant input in the writing of her part, so the producers basically said, "See ya..."

I'm still dying for some Corridor People episodes! The one clip on youtube looks genius.
