Don Orehek is one of my all-time favorite cartoonists... anyone know anything about him? There ain't much info online, and any little tid-bit not already provided in the link would be much appreciated. These classic horror gags come from Monster Howls #1.
I'll have some great Pete Wyma gags for you tomorrow as well, (also from Monster Howls #1.) He's another fave o'mine.

HA THESE ARE SUPER! I'LL HAVE TO CHECK EBAY FOR MONSTER HOWLS,I LOVE THIS TYPE OF MAD STUFF.
You might not get the vampire water cooler joke if you were born after 1970 or so.
Here's the ref for those of you who don't get it:

Thanks Tim, I did know about Don's "adult" work (if you google him that's pretty much all there is on display) but that was definitely a fine little birthday post from Mike so thanks for sharing.
And shoot, if I had known his birthday was coming up here enxt weekend on Aug 9th I would have waited and posted these gags then. I'll have to see if I have any more horror oriented ones to scan.

Dat's the one!
Orehek is God! He was the King of Shut Ups in Cracked magazine!
God, all of these are great, but some of them are just jaw-dropping in the way that they manage to cartoon to a much greater degree, encompassing more, than most cartoonists feel it's necessary to attempt. Like, well, here comes a damn werewolf, and in the middle of our flood, too, inconveniently. And it's not that often that you see a mustachioed mad scientist type. I suspect that these get a fair share of comparison with Charles Addams, but frankly, Addams was riffing on mundane normality with his macabre spookiness. This guy is actually doing the exact opposite. More like Gary Larson. I love the one with the aliens (literally) holding up the gas station. What a damn genius.

Excellent observation as always Mr C. Good to see you back too. Where you been anyway, besides some far-off exotic corner of the world?

Ah, more of the same--well, the mountainous central highlands of the same, anyway. We took a four-day weekend for the Mrs.'s birthday and went someplace high enough above sea level to actually be cool.
It took me exactly this long to catch back up again (this long meaning late Wednesday night, my time).
Thanks for the shout out, Tim. Karswell: these scans are GREAT! I've linked to this over at my blog in honor of Don's birthday.
