Within the Torture Chamber!

Didn't receive enough torture this holiday season? Well, here's a little more for you-- it's another fine entry from the August 1971 issue of Skywald's Nightmare #5 --with tremendous art from Doug Wildey!

And Happiest of Horrordays and Season's Screamings to all, from Mr. Karswell & Son!

Happy Holidays Kars and Kid!

A fun tale when great art, and a good script. You can see the ending coming a mile away, but our nobleman's descent into madness before finally encountering the ghost is well written as are the other creepy, leering torturers.

Page 3, panel 3, that's just an awesome piece of art, with the face of dying in horror vs somebody desperately confessing to the corpse. And that last panel, wow, I haven't read this story in years and I still remember it!

"Mangled body"? Uh, did Wildey read the script? Because she certainly doesn't look crushed or bloody to me. Then again, as the Dread Pirate Wesley once said, there's a shortage of perfect bosoms in this world - it'd be a shame to damage hers.

Merry Creepmas and Happy Howlidays, one and all!

I think Wildey was too busy delivering a terrific illustration job to read the descriptions!

Love the pic. Reminds me of that old holiday classic song: "I saw mommy bury Santa Claus"

Late to the party, and long absent, but I finally came to visit my favorite horror comic hangout again.

The story is beautifully illustrated, and it almost makes up for the fact that you don't lose your voice when your tongue's cut out, just the ability to talk coherently. So both the poor innocent girl and the lying, despicable young noble should have been able to scream quite satisfyingly. They just wouldn't have been able to beg intelligibly for mercy. Not that the young don could have done that in any case...
