The Taxi Driver was a bit short, so how about a bonus tale, also from the Jan/Feb 1953 issue of Mister Mystery #9. This one will make you think twice before working for a mad scientist…

This would make a great motivational poster:LAB ASSISTANTS:THOSE LIFE SAVING MORONS.
Regarding the first story, the theme of "werewolf/vampire's victim turns out to be a vampire/werewolf" has popped up several times in pre-code horror, hasn't it? I recall at least one other story on this site with that theme, and a couple of EC stories as well. As for the second tale, I kind of saw the twist coming, as I made the same observation as the "Idiot". Very Encyclopedia Brown-esque!
Even Slylock Fox mocked this idea in a recent strip: Count Weirdly claims to have invented a liquid that will dissolve anything it touches; how does Slylock know he's lying? Remember that the strip is aimed at six year olds.

That red "I'VE FOUND IT!" panel is surely the quintessential image of the weird science genre. That's something I'd like to have on a t-shirt.

Am I the only one who thinks Mad Scientist Guy looks like Dr. Silvano from Shazam!?
And yes, I thought the same thing too. "But if you actually create alkahest...what do you KEEP it in???"
A fine illustration of the difference between intellectual genius and plain old common sense.
Hey Emby , the guy's name id SIVANA ! Silvano is yours truly ...
Nice story anyway , thanks for sharing !
THIS WAS AN UNEXPECTEDLY FUNNY ONE AND REALLY GREAT ART, ESPECIALLY THE INKING. LEAVE IT TO THE RIDICULED HIRED HELP TO BE THINKING ONE STEP AHEAD
Whoa, another rip off? "The Thin Line" seems to be a take-off of the Lights Out episode "Oxychloride X."
too funny!!!
Hope everyone enjoyed today's Mister Mystery double feature... and tomorrow is Request Fulfillment Day for lucky THOIA reader Roger Howell of NY NY.
