The Mummy!

Ahhh, "Sundays with Mummy", if there's a better monstrosity to spend it with I don't know who, or what it is. Also, I do apologize for the lack of posts lately, it's just been another one of those months. I had originally planned an entire month of weekly mummy stories for May, but regretfully we are just now finally getting around to the first, this one from the June 1953 issue of Forbidden Worlds #18, (art by Harry Lazarus.) More on May Mummies after the story!

Come back next weekend for the Dell Movie Classic version of--- THE MUMMY with art by Jack Sparling (it will probably be another two-parter.)
(Thanks again to Tiffany Murphy for this great LIO gag!)

Ship of the Dead / Phantoms from the Sea

Today we batten down the hatches with a double shot of bizarorror on the high seas, and our first weird tale comes from the January 1954 issue of Spook #27. A very eerie story with typically loose Star Comics artwork, but it's strangely appropriate and works none the less (and you gotta love that bonkers L. B. Cole cover!) Followed by our second soggy spook-o-rama from the Winter 1952 issue of Ghost Comics #5. This one features some really nice and crisp Fiction House art, though I think I spot a swipe or two... or twelve.

The Evil Ones! / Turnabout

Nasty gnomes give C.H.U.D. a run for the money in "The Evil Ones!" by the dynamically deadly Don Heck, while the always amazing Al Tewks shows us what kind of killer toys for boys the ever frightening future holds in "Turnabout." Both stories are from the September 1953 issue of Weird Terror #7. (Click HERE for more from this great issue of Weird Terror in the THOIA Archives!)

THOIA UPDATE / Plus: Cowboy Henk!

Due to recent personal horrors in the THOIA Kingdom, we'll be taking a somewhat short 'n sweet, yet much needed black sabbatical. But never fear, we do promise to return to the pre-coded tales of terror shortly. In the meantime, enjoy this hilariously disturbing sampling of Cowboy Henk adventures from the mind bending "King of Dental Floss" collection by Kamagurka and Herr Seele. Does this qualify as "horror?" We think so.

Burn the midnight fires friends, THOIA thanks you all again with our sincerest set of horns for your endless dedication and support. From the July 1951 issue of The Beyond #5
