In the late 50's, Pierce Publishing attempted to cash in on the MAD Magazine craze, frantically cranking out 5 issues of nicely illustrated comedy madness before calling it quits, --but not before assembling this silly monster mash spoof of Better Homes and Gardens for the April 1959 issue of Frantic! V2 #2.
As I thusly vowed, it's now time to get to some long awaited requests, and first up it's an ACG vampire classic from the June - July 1954 issue of Out of the Night #15! Mr. Cavin wanted to see something by THOIA fan favorite, Lin Streeter, and I am of course always happy to fulfill that request! So horrifically happy in fact, that we'll see more by Lin in our next post as well! Stay tombed for lots lots more...
You know you've found the perfect summertime screamer when the off-register coloring actually adds a bit to the visuals for a minor plot point moment, haha. Top notch work from Russ Heath of course, and despite the rather predictable conclusion you'll see flapping its way towards you from page 3, this tale also provides a few moments of very lovely good girl art, dance action, and atmosphere. From the September 1951 issue of Suspense #10, --and get a load of that weirdly masterful Joe Maneely cover! But FYI: I also included a creepy Carl Burgos cover, courtesy of the March 1953 issue of Adventure into Weird Worlds #16 at the very end of this post too because it seems to fit that final story panel pretty nicely-- now don't peek until you've read it to the end though!
If you didn't giggle hard enough at our last post, --and if the smell of burnt hot dog made you completely lose your appetite from the same entry, --let's quickly turn now to the May - June 1954 issue of Bughouse #2 for something a bit more silly and madcap, and maybe even a little macabre in the most moronic manner possible.
